Hey guys, Gutsnagga here!
I've noticed that the previous thread is dead, but I'd like to find out if there are some Dakka members who are still league players.

I started playing league a few months ago, I'm really enjoying it!
I'm summoner level 22 atm, so hopefully I'll be into ranked before the next season.
I try to play a variety of roles, but the ones I'm having the most fun as are top and jungle.

I have another question as well:
I'm finding a lot as of recent that I'm losing because of my team. I'm meaning like, I end up feeding because my team mates are so bad. Stuff like being a jungler and coming to gank, and then the player who wanted the gank doing nothing and just using it as an excuse to farm creeps. Without the backup, I die.
Will this affect my matchmaking? Will I be put with less skillful players because of this? When it comes to ranked, will my rank be affected by this?

Also, my LOL name is Gutsnagga. I'm on the Oceania server, getting much better ping now (20-30 instead of 200-300)!

I've played LoL for about 2 years now. I'm gold rank in solo 5v5 - many players think this isn't good, but for a casual player who gets placed with silvers there isn't much I can do.

Don't worry about your match making before summoner level 30. Until you hit 30 it is mostly people who don't know how to play most of the champs or can only perform a single role (jungle, top, mid, adc, support). You will get a lot of autolock players who don't even care about team composition before 30 too.

Personally I prefer top (shen, vlad, kayle), support (blitz or thresh), and my fav is jungle (vi, zac, scarner)

I haven't played in months. Riot left the Oceania server half-finished, and that's pretty much killed my interest in the game.

Yeah I'm finding it annoying that I can't try out dominion, seems like a fun gametype.
Also Twisted treeline being gone is annoying, means we can't do really quick bot games.
I played with a couple of friends using skype today, we had the best base race! Won with our nexus on around 100 health!

I still haven't transferred over yet. Scouted it out with a smurf, glad I did.

Even with the incomplete features, I'm finding that getting such low ping is worth it, due to the computer I use not being the greatest in terms of speed...
It means I usually have no lag, and it runs a lot more smoothly than the NA server did.

Plus, because I switched early, I got a free ziggs & his pool party skin!

Ziggs isn't really such a big deal for me and I've been dealing with the lag for about 3 years, can wait a little longer.

I don't spend RP at all, only the IP I earn in game, so it was a pretty big deal for me.

To an extent, yes. A team with a wide array of champions available has a lot of options for comp and coverage in a fight. However, unless you're in gold or higher, I doubt it will matter. Most teams in lower tiers pay no real mind to comp, and so long as you know how to play a small handful of champs in two or three roles you should be okay. The cheap IP champs give you good flexibility as a player and they're all champs you should know how to play anyway. Especially I advise you learn to play Annie, Nunu, Soraka, and Master Yi. They're all cheap IP champs and will teach you valuable skills.

Not to mention that Annie is still one of the most op AP champions in the game if you're good with her.

And when you want to screw around, Support Annie is awesomely hilarious

I do try to use a lot of champions, and I'm fine with nunu and master yi.
I own about 20 champions at the moment, some of my favourites (that I own) are Katarina, Blitzcrank, Darius, Lee Sin, Ziggs and Fiddlesticks.
I own most of the 450 IP champs, excepting poppy and sivir.
I'm mainly at the moment trying to purchase at least one legendary tier champion (3150-6300 IP) champion for each role. Draven is next on the list, had a lot of fun playing him a few times when he was free!

Yeah I've heard about this, sounds like a blast!
Unfortunately I kinda gave up on playing annie after my first game, when I was against an Anivia mid... It really didn't go well at all.
I found her lack of maneuverability quite annoying, it meant I didn't have much in the way of escaping or dodging spells.

I still play LoL, been playing for quite some time now.
I usually main Draven, Ashe and Amumu.

Love the idea behind LoL honestly, played it for a few months with my brother-in-law and his college buddies.

They dropped off during finals and never came back (sadface) so I decided to play solo. Wow. Worst community ever. It's a shame too, because LoL is a pretty awesome game, but 9/10 times I end up getting screamed at by some try-hard who knows a lot about how my mother spends her friday nights.

If you are only playing solo, then I would learn how to play well with a "carry". If most of your teams are bad then its always gonna be up to you to try and get them on the right track. Farming up will be a chore, but if you can hold the enemy team long enough to get geared up, you will at least have a better shot at winning.

I've always found that if you can master farming, positioning during fights (this one especially), and using wards; then you will increase your odds of success. Good Luck!

In terms of carries, are you talking primarily about a Botlane AD carry, or just any AD carry in general (Melee included) or powerful AP mid carries as well?
Thanks for the tips! I have been trying to get better at positioning in fights lately, seeing more professional players sometimes using flash just to get in better position, tried it and it helped a lot! This is one of the things I find difficult, so hopefully I'll make progress.

I have a feeling he implies simply carries in general. AD Carries aren't the only ones that can actually carry a team. Jax is an example of a top laner that is capable of split pushing (leaving team to push by himself and break the towers). In a sense, he is a carry. The only role that I know o that can't carry is supports. That being said, supports can carry in an odd way but it still requires some teamwork (you can ward everything, you can lead the team as best you can and line up kills whilst always knowing where they are and when they are trying to claim dragon or baron but you as yourself can't do it in the easy way. I'd recommend staying away from there until high silver and above). Alas I don't know many more as I've forgotten the list by now (I play support as my main so sometimes forget).

If you're a good zillean you can carry the team because your team will likely have a 2:1 k/d ratio and all your towers..... (if evenly matched)

Aye but I'd argue that in the end supports are stuck only carrying in a round about manner. Well if the team is that bad just play zyra, thresh, or something and start building ap or ad I guess

I wouldn't be shocked but its also influenced by the test players I'll bet. Darius is a good example. The test players largely found ways to deal with him and control him and he released in a state that people very good at the game could handle but that anyone remotely competent could abuse against the larger less skilled player base. As such, he got nerfed eventually.

That said, I'm also fairly sure that Riot isn't solely interested in complete balance as the Extra Credits video on Perfect Imbalance point out (and frankly how the gak are they gonna balance all the champs anyway?).

I play league but im still level 6 and only have one champ........ which OBVIOUSLY means im MLG 1337 PLAT all day long baby! ( im so bad it makes me cry). I never did play the tutorial because i told the game i was an expert MOBA player when i first signed up and have been having a fun time getting absolutely fondled by higher level players (all my friends are lvl 30 and i play with them only) but if you want a game hit me up! Haha, story of my early days. I got into League because a bunch of friends who played it a lot, and I'd queue with them and chat using Skype and stuff
I fed so much every one of those games it wasn't funny. My friends were fine with it, due ot how new I was, but people we didn't know usually weren't so understanding...


LordofHats, I see what you mean, that makes sense about the test players. I assume that they only get professionals/high ranked individuals to test new champs?
In my experience, Aatrox was the best example of this. when he was released, I played him twice in the free week, each time I got incredibly fed, and it usually takes me about 5 games to get used to a champ, let alone play well with them!

Also, I've just started using smart-casting. is this a good idea to start at such an early level, or better to wait until later? It seems like I can combo better, but I'm a slightly less accurate with skill shots.

Hey guys, im summoner lvl 30 LFM for ranked or just a few people to que with. Im just tired of getting put in with losing teams. I usually support and jungle and ill be back home in about a week and a half ready to paly. Nashole NA server. I also have TS3 and skype.
