Jeez talk about an unbelievable time. I bought the starter set a while back and gave it a test run with my wife. Then I had a friend over who hasn't played a ton of tabletop games, but did have experience with Wings of Glory, so the movement style wasn't totally foreign.

With all that said, we managed to play FIVE games in 1 hour and 50 minutes. Like I said I'd played the game once and he never had, and weren't trying to rush or anything! Every match was full of surprises, tactics, and challenging moments. We played a simple Academy pilot match, then swapped sides. Then we used more advanced pilots and again swapped sides. Then we finished with the Shuttle Escort mission from the rulebook played once.

...I don't really have a question or point, I just wanted to continue to highlight that X-Wing Miniatures is doing a great job at making light tabletop gaming accessible, inexpensive, and fun.

I've already picked up the A-Wing (great quality, and tons of components for the money). I definitely foresee more $15 purchases to slowly build up my fleet.

It's playability is only rivaled by its buyability.

Definitely the former. It was already fun with the base 3 ships. I can only imagine the hoot I'll have when I do a massive day long battle on a huge table.

Durban-South Africa. Like schwow man!

Well, that's because my wallet is evil and deserves to be punished.

And OP, if your getting a blast out of the starter, wait until your fleets grow towards the 100pt mark...

totally agree with this post.

Such a great game for small scale battles or larger fleet engagements.

Will be excellent when they release the bigger ships too!

Just picked up the A-Wing on a whim (my favorite Star Wars ship).

It's started...

Most store sin Toronto sell their ships for 11.99. Big ships 21.99. Starter 31.99

It has the extreme ability to want to be purchased.

At the same time it is way cheaper(especially for the rebels) than some of the other miniatures games(~$15 to ~$20 per model) out there, compared to games like 40k where a tactical squad is $40.

What's evil is that you're not just buying a ship, you get upgrades that can be used for almost all ships as well. I've found myself tempted to get ships that I don't even like because they might have useful cards in them

Picked up the Tie Bomber, so I at least how enough ships that 4 people could feasibly play at once (either in a team 2vs2 or two 1vs1 free-for-alls).

What's funny is now whenever I'm going to spend money I think "But I could buy an X-Wing ship for that!".

Go for lunch at work? Hmm, that's TWO TIE FIGHTERS!

Basically my new currency.

Where are you eating at for lunch everyday that it costs $30? That seems like irresponsible spending that could go to XWing to me!
