I've play tested Sallies a couple of times since the new codex and I usually stack Meltas and keep finding that I don't need them as much as I think I do. Less and less players bring mech, at least in my Meta and it's extremely disappointing. Lol. HQ (2/2) Vulkan He’stan – 190 -Master-crafted Bolt Pistol Captain Tu’Shan -215 +Master-crafted The Burning Blade +The Shield Eternal +Artificer Armour 5 Command Squad – 170 + Master-crafted Chainsword (Apothecary) +4 Flamers +Drop Pod Elites (3/3) 10 Sternguard Veteran Squad – 285 + Master-crafted Bolter (Sergeant) + 2 Heavy Flamers + Drop Pod 10 Sternguard Veteran Squad – 285 + Master-crafted Bolter (Sergeant) + 2 Heavy Flamers + Drop Pod 10 Sternguard Veteran Squad – 295 + Master-crafted Bolter (Sergeant) + 3 Master-crafted Combi-Meltas + Drop Pod Troops (2/6) 10 Tactical Squad – 195 + Master-crafted Combi-Melta (Sergeant) + Master-crafted Meltagun + Drop Pod 10 Tactical Squad – 195 + Master-crafted Combi-Melta (Sergeant) + Master-crafted Meltagun + Drop Pod Fast Attack (1/3) 5 Assault Marines – 95 +2 Flamers +Drop Pod Heavy Support (1/3) Stalker – 75 Total: 2000/2000 I wanted a Chapter Master Tu'Shan to fit fluff but I couldn't drop the 30 points I was short. (I added a combi-melta to the Sternguard to fill the 40 points missing from the Chapter Master total). The one stalker starts in reserves unless I need it to be on the table Turn1. I really only brought it to ground Flying Monstrous Creatures. Against other flyers I'm going to have to focus their ground troops and rely on proper positioning to avoid damage. Spread out against heldrakes, avoid the 18" inch threat range against Necron flyers, etc. A solid mix of melta and flamers to combat both army types. This list is particularly strong against balances lists (that have both vehicles and bodies to fill). As you can imagine, there are 7 pods, 4 with flamers, 3 with meltas. Depending on what's on the field depends on what I drop, but the Command squad with 2 HQs almost always drops Turn1 for Turn2 assaults. I haven't play tested this particular army, but I will soon enough. Sometimes I miss things so I like to post a list or two on Dakka.

Master Crafted Bolters....seems like a shame.... maybe drop some points to give your Sternguard Combi Meltas?

Master-crafted Bolters is amazing. Combi-Meltas are already MC'd so I get 3 Master-crafted 2+ Poison attacks on the Heavy Flamer squads and 4 Master-crafted 2+ Poison attacks on the Melta squad. It's fantastic. If I got other combi's, it just adds points to the squad that they don't need. Automatically Appended Next Post: Anyway, I played a game with the list and I lost because I played the troops too aggressive and my opponent is a veteran of sorts and focused them. I liked the list but it was against a Horde Daemon army. I landed a lot of key flamers on his Furies and Screamers Turn1.
After some words with my opponents, my list is extremely effective against Hordes (his army specifically), but would have trouble against 2+ Save army, namely Tau with Broadsides/Riptides.
Back to the drawing board! I'm thinking...
3-man Bike Squads
+Master-crafted Combi-Grav
+Grav-gun
+Grav-gun
All for 93 points. Might be something to look into for Salamanders. That extra reroll could do wonders. 9 shots, 6-7 wounds reliably with AP2. Potential of killing a riptide in 1 turn.

What would you drop for that? Or would you increase the point limit? I've had success with a Drop Pod / White Scars list using a 5x Man Command Squad on Bikes w/ 4 Grav Guns, and an Apothecary.

It's still 2k, I dropped the extra Captain, 1 Sternguard for Legions, Apothecary for a 5th flamer on Turn1, and mixed a few things around.
In my 2k, I have now: 3 Tacs (2 10-man, 1 5-man (instead of Assault Squad)), 2 Stern, 1 Legion, 1 Command, 2 Bike Squads, and 3 Stalkers.
