Hello there good gentle-orks! I am thinking of making another ork list, centered more around dakka and thought instead of bashing random units together that look cool, So dear friends, my question is - How would you build an ork dakka list and why? Oh and um. if anyone is curious, i've always loved ranged combat. Not just because orks have pretty nice shooty options

Lootas, preferably behind an ADL.

Dakkajets

Shootaboyz in vast numbers.

Big gunz

Aaand yer dun. Jobz a gud un.

Big shoota/rokkit deffkoptas and rokkit battlewagons with tankbustas get an honorable mention also.

Sounds good to me What HQ would you reccomend, and how to looted wagons as artillery usually fare as well as grots manning quad guns for AA? Not like that is really needed though due to the dakkajet, but everything should have backups

The reason i ask about looted wagons however, is that i've heard a lot of good about them, but just as much, if not more bad, they seem very fragile, but very dangerous, if not unreliable

No Looted Wagons. AV11 and BS2 Boom Guns are not optimal. S8 AP3 36"Range BS3 Kannons with 3 Ammo Runts are awesome, especially manning a Quad Gun behind an ADL.

I don't write the rules. My ego just lives and dies by them one model at a time.

Looted Wagons are super-cool to convert, but currently too erratic to justify filling a HS slot (compared to e.g. Big Gunz).

Ascalam's suggestions are good.

Of course, the whole ork meta may change when we get our new codex rumoured for March/April next year. 6th Ed made shooty orks far more viable with the existing elderly codex - in the nex codex, GW may decide to swing the pendulum back to close combat. Or not...

Just build Looted Wagons and counts as them as Junkas or Supa Kannon Trakks. Its like the not rubbish version of the Looted Wagon

Assuming you have/can get the FW books and people will actually play you using FW units.

They are better, but some fold have an issue with playing vs FW units, and the books aren't that readily available in some places.

The information in the books isn't hard to get a hold of. If you ask certain individuals they can most likely point you in the right direction

Then you just have to let someone let you use it.

Personally i like FW, but it's not exactly popular in my area so i don't tend to build lists assuming i can use it.

Pre-arranged games with someone cool with FW rules work though.

Is it true that the sky shield is banned in most organized play?
I figure its a very useful item in a shooty ork army considering it provides cover and safe landing for jets.

Depends on where you play.

Its rules are a bit loose, and can cause issues.

I walled off the space below the platform on mine, as we play it as impassable and los blocking at my flgs to simplify using it.

Mind you, I'm the only one who ever uses the thing there anyway

Automatically Appended Next Post:
You can't land jets on the skyshield btw, barring flying over it during play. Ork planes don't get to hover or land.

My DE are fond of skyshields as a way to help keep my skiffs alive until i get to move them.
