Howdy!

I was wondering, about what would be the best way to paint chrome on models (actual reflective chrome, not NMM-chrome effects). I know you can get chrome spray paints, but I don't know if they're any good. Also, are there any brush-on chrome paints?

Thanks!

You could try painting on a steel colour and glazing it with blue and brown.

You could do SENMM but mix Vallejo metallic medium in with your paint.

Alclad II.

Fair warning: It is extremely tricky to use.

You need very good prep work (smooth surfaces, NO mould lines / seams left).

You need a very high gloss enamel primer under it.

You then need to apply it in thin coats (2 usually does) with an airbrush (and you will need lacquer / cellulose thinner for cleanup). This is NOT like spraying Vallejo Model air or other relatively safe stuff. Lacquers have a much smaller particulate size and let off some really nasty vapours. A proper respirator for lacquer work is strongly recommended, especially if you are doing larger areas or pieces where 'not breathing' can't be an option.

Once this is dry, use a small microfibre cloth (like a glass cleaning cloth) to polish it up.
