Through the looking glass

Being a fan of the original, I decided to take the dive and give the...reboot? Prequel? A spin. Holy crap this game is fun. Melee mechanics are solid, special moves while seemingly awkward to pull off flow like water as you learn the game, rpg elements that keep things interesting with new abilities and weapon mods as the game goes, and standard shadow warrior humor. By far the best FPS I've played in a long time. Anyone else give it a spin?

In the original, which was during the build engine era (hexen, doom, blood, duke nukem, shadow warrior), you played as lo wang, a ninja assassin out to kill an ex boss who tried to have you assassinated. Using all manner of crazy weapons you just kind of shot your way through levels.

As I mentioned in my first post, I don't know if the new one is a prequel or a reboot, as the game starts with you employed to zilla.

Really, the game is more about having fun with the combat and banter and one liners with a story that kind of strings you along. Kind of like old school shooters.
