Dose anyone know if the core lay out for army building at the same between the books?
so like with the salamanders I am sure they have new rules, and they have specific squads made for them but are assault squads still troops ect?

This is answered in the HH book. It has the rules for army layout, what's a troop choice and what isn't. It also explains the special rules for each legion (as the books come out) which may alter these selections.

I think the core layout is the same. For example, in Book I, you have the core layout with all of the vanilla HQ, Elite, Fast Attack, and Heavy options. Further back in the book are Legion-specific appendices. For example, in the Death Guard appendix, you get the Legion-specific rules for Death Guard, Deathshroud, Mortarion, and 2 named characters.

I have book one , I want to build a raven guard army, so that's why I asked if someone had book one and two to see if they core build of the armies were the same, I understand that this is not a replacement for a codex...that's all I was trying to figure out
