Looking to combine the forces of chaos into a fun and competitive 2k list. Any feedback on how a list like this would stand up to the current top tier Tau and/or Eldar builds? Hopefully I can achieve this without having to resort to a screamerstar (which while legal I feel is really broken). I don't think 1 unit of screamers with 1 herald takes it too far, even with the grimoire on it.

Looks fun. The Flesh Hounds are super high threat thanks to their abilities... I think you'll be okay. When that drake arrives, it's curtains for those pesky Fire Warriors. I hate those things.

ditch the 10 cultists for something else. Easy first blood and kill points for your happy opponent.

I never really thought of taking a different CSM troop choice I was just going for the cheap option to get the black mace and heldrake in. I suppose a squad of basic marines would be a bit more of a threat. A squad of 5 with a melta in a rhino would cost 70 points more then the cultists. I'm not sure where I could shave 70 points in the rest of the list? Any suggestions? Is this change worth making?

I'd stick with the cultists, start them in reserve whenever you can and hope they stay out an extra turn or two. By then you'll have gotten first blood with all those FMCs anyway.

I second ChaosSmaug. I usually run MSU of cultists in my lists and bring them in reserves. Rarely ever do they give first blood, and only 1/6 games care about kill points.

I love the fast and hard approach of chaos daemons. I run a similar list

2000pts double FOC
But I love your idea of adding the csm DP and heldrake. Shame you have to pay cultist tax tho.....
