This is my latest army project I am taking on. My friend and I was discussing about the length of time and cost of designing, building, and painting a new army which is both well painted and competitive. So he set me a challenge which is. To complete an army from the beginning to the finished project in time for throne of skulls in November 2013.

The restrictions

I can not spend over £400
I can not use eBay
1500 points limit
Tabletop standard
Win a few games at throne of skulls

This may seem easy with the budget of £400 it's just the time issue I may have. Working 10am till 9pm most days means I may get a hour hobby at best each day. 2 days off a week is usually consumed by social affairs.

What army are you going with? What, with all your time constraints etc, a low model count army might be a good call

I have decided on an army and have the list all ready and ordered.

The army I have decided on is blood angels. I have a list in mind and going to my local independent store tomorrow see if I can get a good deal.

My thoughts are that there is not many av 14 about so everyone is taking plasma and str 6 guns.
I feel this list will be a very difficult to take down for about 80% of armies. You will get the bad match ups but you will with every list

Need to decide on the storm raven upgrades I'm thinking assault cannon, multi melta combo. As these are the most flexible.

The other 30 points is to upgrade the assault marines.

I could of took 4 raiders but all eggs in one basket is a bad thing. The storm raven allows some flexibility and solid anti air.

Not sure on the list, but it's definately doable in a month. You should be able to breeze through 20 marines and 4 large vehicles

I'm not a fan of all-in gimmick lists (like LR spam) but when it works, you should do fine. Someone who still enjoys fielding melta is going to ruin you though. Very rock/paper/scissors meta dependent.

One thing that might help painting things quickly is a helmets-on policy for your sergeants. It always seems to me painting the one guy with the bare head takes as long as the rest of the squad.
