Hello

I am collecting a nurgle army and want to do a theme around black and white being the base colours and washing highlighting from there.(white being the main flesh colour)

I was wondering if anyone knew of any good guides of using washes over white or had some experience with it them selves.

I just dont want to do the normal green.

I have had a look through the guides and dont think what i want is there.

What kind of colour/shades are you hoping to end up with, sadly the best tutorial that I have experience with and have followed myself is for the sickly green/brown shade that yoydont seem to be after.

This month's WD has a painting guide about washes over white.
Note that I would still advise base coating with white paint over your primer coat as the primer coat usually has a slightly gritty finish which will grab the wash while a paint finish will be smoother & allow the wash to flow better.
Apparently the key is using Lahmian glaze medium.

Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

Do you have a picture or something that resembles the look you are trying to achieve? I often use oil washes over white for my Biel Tan Eldar but i would imagine the look you are going for would be very different. The look I go for is contrast with a black wash over white and then I clean up the raised areas. But It might be interesting to experiment with other oil colors over white for a different kind of look perhaps with less cleaning up for nurgle.

Well, lucky you. It just so happens that for the last half a year I have been building a Nurgle Daemons army using that very technique. It's definitely how Plaguebearers were meant to be painted.

Firstly, start with a bone, beige-looking color. Then, apply Athonian Camoshade, a shade that is absolutely perfect for this. That should immediately give you a green that you can be happy with, but if you're looking for something even more depressed, as I was, then add a brown wash, and viola! You have the perfect dreary look without having to break a sweat! Give it a try!

P.S. Concerning Nurglings:

Nurgling Green, like many of Games Workshop colors, may seem to be implying that it fits Nurglings best. It does not. What fits nurglings best is Death World Forest, which is a dreary green color, with some Athonian Camoshade wash for detailing. Nurgling Green works for the eyes, though. Just add a wash of green (not camoshade; a brighter green) to it.
