Now I know it was similar in the last book but the Servo-Harness description makes me scratch my head...
"A servo-harness gives the bearer an extra servo-arm..."
Is the "extra" meaningless because the harness "upgrades"/replaces the arm or does it mean the servo-harness have two arms? Is it different for a Techmarine gunner/Master of the Forge because they start with a harness?

A harness should grant 2 servo-arms, a flamer and a plasma pistol thingy. The wording is pretty poor though

Well I was thinking that two arms would make a cheap way to get two powerfist-like weapons on an HQ with a 2+ save.

It does in fact give the model two additional powerfist attacks. For C: SM that is a 75 pt model before you consider ranged/combat weapon upgrades, so no not a very cheap way to get the AP 2 attacks.

It does NOT give 2 extra powerfist attacks. Now servo-arms are a weapon , having 2 would get you an extra attack though

I was thinking more about a Master of the Forge, as a Techmarine cannot be taken as a compulsory HQ choice thus not saving anyone points. 90 points for 3 S8 AP1 attacks and a 2+ save for almost the same statline as a chaplain/librarian, is quite a bargain.

Does the grey knight tech marine get + attacks? That is what it states in the codex. Has there been a FAQ to all harnesses?

There has indeed. In fact it was the only change in the most recent editions of the FAQ's.

Why would you not be able to take a Techmarine as an HQ?

They are an HQ, but can't be the compulsory HQ.
see p166 of the Codex as to why.

Would a techmarine with a servo harness and a lightning Claw get two, three on the charge or three attacks, four on the charge? Seeing as he has three specialist weapons. If that does not work, can I take a servo arm and a lightning claw to get a bonus attack. Also if I use the Lightning Claw instead of the servo arm in combat does it get the extra attack, in case I need to strike at initiative?
Asking these questions because I am converting up a techmarine on a bike and I don't want to waste time giving a weapon combo that is invalid.

With the exception of Walkers, models only get +1 A for having two or more CCW's.
Lightning Claws and Servo Arms are both Specialist, see page 42 for more info.

They really crapped on the servo arm then. I miss the extra attack that hit on a 4+

What it is now is always getting a bonus attack; either from 2 Servo Arms, or TL-Pistol+Bolt Pistol. You also gain a bonus on BoO, and 2 Ranged attacks(with a Flamer for Overwatch).

Master of the forge went from having 2 power fist attacks and a potential 4 power axe attacks to now just having 3 power fist attacks (this is assuming he gets charged).
So yes it is sort of a nerf.

4 Power fist(esque) attacks.
Or 4 Regular CCW Attacks.
Or 4 Power Axe attack(but why take the Axe if you aren't taking a beamer, unless you are then paying more to exchange it for another Weapon).
Or 4 literally any other weapon attacks.
Sure you lost 2 bonus attacks, but you gained 2 specialist weapons

Are you counting the charge bonus in that? Because otherwise you max out at 3 attacks ( 2 base + one for having 2 specialist weapons)

The change hit the IG Techpriest much harder.
With a few servitors they were a half-decent counter attack deterant to stick with a group of artillary tanks (while making the odd repair).
The change rendered them totally useless (from situationally uselful).

The numbers said were about a master of the forge.
A techmarine gets his base number of attacks + 1

Yes, just as Eihnlazer had in his(where he claimed the MotF only had 3 attacks, and was discussing the old rul;es on the charge).

One thing though. The plasma cutter isn't a tl-pistol anymore. So no extra attack with normal CCW profile

Ah, yes, although you can still get the bonus attack for the Power Axe, or whatever you further replace that abortion with.
