I've watched two episodes of this.
It is still early days, but so far it feels more like an upmarket version of the kind of classic childrens' fantasy series (Tales of Narnia, Merlin, etc) often broadcast about 5 p.m. on a Sunday, than a proper adult fantasy adventure.

It's one of the worst shows I've ever seen. Not a patch on Merlin :(

I've not seen it myself, but have seen the trailers for it, and frankly it just doesn't appeal.
Perhaps if it had been a series actually about Atlantis & it's fall I might haver been interested, but making it a 'catch all' fantasy setting & trying to tie in traditional mythological characters is just lazy.

Truly terrible even for a 'kids' fantasy
(and I'd agree it's no match for Merlin even though that wasn't my cup of tea it at least had some acting in it)

What with Merlin being nothing short of amazing (particularly the last couple of series), I had high hopes for this, expecting that the production team would have, in terms of production quality, pick up where Merlin left off, with good scripts, layered characters, and good acting...
Suffice to say, they didn't. I saw the first episode and that was enough to convince me it wasn't worth following, which, considering I am generally a huge fan of anything fantasy/greek-themed, is quite the achievement.

I gave it a go. I switched over after less that twenty minutes.
All razzmatazz no substance. Hercules was the short fat bloke from The Full Monty and the Flintstones and the lead was some chinless wonder who was instantly forgettable.
On a more base level none of the birds were stunners. I was no fan of Merlin but Morganna was worth tuning in for.

You think Merlin was good? You should've seen Robin Hood before it...

When it comes to Morgana, I would snort, swill and swallow a trough of raw sewage just to................. OT: The whole time travel aspect really put me off even giving it a chance. Also Atlantis is just such a lame trope for me.

The first season of Robin Hood was decent. Then it went.... strange places. We kept watching it just to see how hilariously bad it could get.
Only people with a lick of acting talent in it were Kieth Allen(Sheriff) and Richard Armitage(Guy) and that really is what kept it from being a total failure.

Actually, I've seen all of both, and really, I couldn't pick between them. In my opinion, both were great, and even from the start were so much better than Atlantis seems to be. Merlin suffered from a lack of good SFX in the early days more than Hood did, but that was mostly sorted by the end of series 2 (about the same point in it's lifetime at which RH got the kind of set and costume budget it always should have had), and the last 2 series were better than the Dr Who series of the same years (coming from me as a massive Who fan, that's high praise). I must admit I didn't like the ending of Hood, with somehow all 3 main characters being brothers, but in the same way I'm not so much of a fan of the way Merlin finished. That said, they are both way above the level Atlantis is at. I suppose the fact that both Merlin and Hood before it were so good has a lot to do with why I was so disappointed with Atlantis.

I vowed to watch every single episode of Doctor Who as it came out after the brilliant 2005 reboot, but recently the scripts have been shoddy. I think Steven Moffat should give it a rest for a bit and allow someone else to come up with new ideas.

Couldn't agree more about Who getting worse, pretty much the whole last series was below par (although there were one or two episodes I loved). Moffat should just give up and stick to Sherlock (which he can actually do), but won't until he's forced to go. Re-watching the last half series on iplayer has given me a slightly better opinion on series 7b ,but it's still far from the glory days of either new-who or old-who. I'm hoping Peter Capaldi will give the series the change it needs (not that I have anything against Matt Smith to be honest), I would like to think his background in directing as well as acting means he'll have a little more creative input.
Hang on, wasn't this thread about Atlantis?
