Ok so I kinda have a nee to start some grey knights (damn them and their simplistic yet striking look)

Hoping to get some advice outside of youtube videos haha.

see the problems that plague my mind are such

primer!

from what i have seen (buypainted)
Vallejo Model Air Primer Grey seems the best (insert thick accent) "it is important to use grey undercoat for painting metallics unless you want very high contrast"
seems legit to me but i have not seen it irl.

to get the colour right i was planning on stealing his idea again of abbadon black and ironbreaker 50/50 with glaze medium (about to order my badger krome)
shading with stolen again abbadon black and leadbelcher 50/50

i like working with citadel paints (because i can go to dreaded gw and just buy them lol)

and final edging with whatever mithril is now 75/25 with abbadon black

heres where i hit a wall tho.
everyone does the same colour combos. which to maintain chapter idea i understand
but i was thinking about purpling in there a bit
i was playing xcom enemy unkown and when you get a psychic into the gollop chamber the eyes get this awesome as awesome purple glow
link that to the weapons stealing everyones nmm idea just replace the blues with the purples. but would it match well with the silver red and white?
i dont want to slave to see hey the scheme looks off!

anyone with a opinion on Vallejo old gold vs the citadel counter part would be appreciated!

but back on track

a nuln oil before edging
throw together the final details
and viola base the bad boy up (i was thinking real arid look either red sand style to compliment the red in the armour trims or a dusty yellow to contrast with the other colours)

any idea suggestions abuse ( i can take it im a big boy)

cheers

Looky Likey

Red & Purple together would look a bit bland. I'd want a contrasting colour in there to promote more interest.

I was thinking that but the only contrast colour that works well is blue. And I've seen that done to death.
