EDIT: Noticed some uninformed opinions not knowing about the comp rules for Da boyz, check it out before posting! http://static.squarespace.com/static/51959adae4b0dd9b7b27939b/t/520e660de4b011b911319e50/1376675341958/Daboyz%202013%2040Kcomp%20restrictions.pdf

So Ive had this idea bouncing around and in test games its pretty solid, so Im greening lighting the project this weekend and just want to see what people have to say.

HQ
Shadow Council – 310pts
-4 spiritseers (280pts)
-1 spirit stone of Anath’Lan (15pts)
-Guardian helm of Xellethon (15pts)

TROOPS
10 Wraith Guard – 420pts
-D-scythes (100pts)

5 Wraith Guard – 160pts
-Wraithcannons

5 Wraith Guard – 160pts
-Wraithcannons

5 Wraith Guard – 160pts
-Wraithcannons

10 Wraithblades – 320pts
-Ghost axes and force shields

10 Wraithblades – 320pts
-Two ghost swords

Total: 1850

With voice of twilight it turns the axes into instant death (with furious charge they are S8) machines scary against both infantry, MCs, and tanks. Not to mention if they get the +1S buff. As for battle focus, my experiences with it have shown that they are incredibly fast and the 12" range on the wraith guns makes little difference.

I tested it out against a Triptide Tau with all markerlights and Ion accellerators and came out on top. Spreading them out meant that I received very few casualties, and most other weapons they shrugged off. Protect/Jinx makes the unit a tank.

Rick Priestley said it best:
Bryan always said that if the studio ever had to mix with the manufacturing and sales part of the business it would destroy the studio. And I have to say – he wasn’t wrong there! The modern studio isn’t a studio in the same way; it isn’t a collection of artists and creatives sharing ideas and driving each other on. It’s become the promotions department of a toy company – things move on!

I think you'll get rolled by the 50 white scars grav spam armies that will likely show up at DA boys. You can still spam troops, and a ton of people are hopping on the bike band wagon. So if no one can take their flying circus or their screamer star or traditional tau list etc...I think that leaves jet seer and bike spam, both of which will run circles around you.

Rule #1 is Look Cool.

That's the thing, grav spam is the hard counter but no one in their right mind will take it as playing one guard or ork player renders most of your army useless.

That and Ive been to enough tournaments to know that the big bad internet lists are only taken by a handful of guys, and they generally don't work that well.

What is your plan against double Helldrake CSM? Or Night Scythe Necron? Or any flyer or FMC list for that matter.

"No one in their right mind will take it"?! The bikes have relentless, rapid fire TL bolters to deal with Orks or IG! And 6 5 man bike squads with double grav is only 900ish points for fast, hard hitting, versatile, tough scoring units. With the FOC restrictions of this event limiting standard competitive lists, this and jet seer council are what you will see spammed.

Ignore that fact at your own peril. You can still bring 4 wave serpents under the restrictions; I suggest you do so. Or bring a jet seer list yourself.

Now, if you don't care about having a shot at the title, then being whatever you want.

The Twilight Zone

An army with a max threat range of 12-18" is...not all that scary. FMC's or helldrakes will absolutely wreck your wraith constructs.

You have a lot of T6 scoring, sure, but any decent army will outmanuver you/shoot you off the table.

I see your trick with the spirit stone and voice of twilight, but even still your going to take serious casualties by the time you get into range to kill stuff. I like the theme, but you should really get some mobility and range in there as well. At least one of the 5 man wraith squads is overkill, maybe 2.

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

Oh and you cant take the all bike army anyway to Da boyz bike units are 0-2 as they can fill both slots still.

Spread the hell out and minimize damage against hell drakes, plus believe it or not battle focus actually makes up for a big difference in the threat range, especially with quickening.

That and protect gives 2+ saves and there is a restriction of 0-2 heldrakes. and 0-4 of flying anything.

Threat range of 19 to 24" + quickening actually.

Mea culpa. You're right; they're 0-2. I forgot it was 'may' take bikes as troops instead of fast attack as opposed to "they are troops instead of fast attack".

STILL; a 19-24" threat range with so few models, and more importantly, so few shots, will really screw you if you run into a horde list of any kind. If someone brings bugs or orks, what's the plan?

Likewise, 4 fliers is still a lot. What happens when a SM player rolls up with 2 Ravens and 2 Talons?

And what about Tau or IG? You'll fail 2+ saves and they'll force a lot of them.

I dunno man, I'm not trying to be a hater but I think this list should be reserved for more friendly environments. Your book is so mean, and there are a lot of viable builds in there. I just don't think wraith spam is it right now.

I say go for it, its interesting to say the least. I do think your going to have a hell of a time with necron/CSM or even just necrons because your basically giving them free shots at you.

I also thing this list has a seriously hard time of competing against any of the eldar lists that include large amounts of rending units. large jetbike units or mass guardians are going to give you fits.

Well, foot slogging is a slow way to die. Almost any army you'll face at the GT will be faster than yours. This will give them a tactical advantage. I guess you'll achieve mixed results. I wouldn't expect more.

I literally just did this to the guardian jetbike comment (back to the drawing board) :
