Subject: 750pt Eldar for friendly game, not competitive.

So, friendly game....not a tourney setting...but winning is nice l
What I'm trying to decide is if two Spiritseers are worth it, as I'm not running any wraith units.
Here's the list!
Spiritseer
Spiritseer
x6 Banshees, w/Exarch, Executioner and Disarming Strike
x10 Guardians, Starcannon
x10 Guardians, Brightlance
x6 Swooping Hawks, Exarch, Sunrifle, Marksman's Eye
Wraithlord, x2 Heavy Flamers, Scatterlaser, Starcannon.
So yeah, I know Banshees suck or whatever, but like I said, its a friendly game, and ill be fighting Marines, so I figured they'd be a good counter attack unit if he gets through the firepower. But I wasn't sure if the Spiritseers would be fun/useful or if a Farseer/x1 Warlock would better to support the Guardians. Or even the farseer and adding more models to the existing squads....
Any thoughts would be welcome!
Thanks!

well, as you said it, banshees suck. consider getting scorpians, or even harliquens instead.
drop marksmans eye on the hawks, not worth it, and instead get a glave on the wraithlord.

Executing Exarch
|
Yeah, banshees really ARE that bad. Hands down the worst unit in the codex. If your dead set on running them, get more and drop disarming strike from the exarch. An excutioner should roll through a sarge no problem and with the mask you WILL go first on the charge.
Spiritseers are really good, and can be used as super warlocks to buff squads(they are always a better buy than warlocks on foot). They boost the Ld of the guardians, provide shrouded or a myriad of other benefits, with telepathy if you need some offensive power. You do have a wraithlord so he will be buffed. A farseer/spiritseer may be a bit better to unlock guide/prescience, but spiritseers are fantastic in their own right. Putting one with the banshees can help them survive, but you lose out on their fast running.
Second dropping marksman's eye and adding a ghostglaive.

Thanks all for the replies!
As stated, I know Banshees aren't the best right now, but its the first time I've ever had the new models so I wanted to get them on the table at least once! Haha
I'm up for dropping Marksmans eye, and I totay forgot I already gave the WL a glaive, so he's good on that.
Anything else?

Personally I think spirit seers are great in select situations. Being able to use them to get the warlock powers into units that cannot take warlocks is really fun. 2+ armor scorps, shrouded dark reapers or.weapon batteries, etc. Their other main use is the obvious one, unlock wraithguard as troops.
I personally hate warlocks unless it's the seer council with dark eldar allies. Leadership 8 is so much worse than 9 when out comes to the psychic checks. Then with only one round, when you do perils they just vanish. Great, so for the cost of almost 4 guardians, warlocks have a 1/18 chance to vanish every single turn just for doing their job. So if the choice is warlocks or spirit seers, go with the seers. Plus they are IC so can move around from unit to unit if needed. For full effectiveness though it's hard to beat a farseer.
If it were me I would drop the hawk exarch and disarming strike from the banshee exarch and switch one of the spiritseers to a farseer to hand out re-rolls.to guardian platforms and wraithlords.

One thing I notice is that you are truly light on AT.
Haywire grenades are good but truly risky. You should have a BL there. I know there is one with Guardians, but remember that they are mostly anti-infantry unit.
Your current setup might do well, but I'd have dual BL on the Lord and leave anti-TEQ weaponry (SC/SL) for Guardians

Thanks for the replies!
Im definitely not opposed to dropping the exarch, and disarm to get a farseer, the potential for five powers a turn is hard to pass up and it doeznt really diminish the banshees or hawks.
I suppose putting brightlances on the WL would be more reliable than hoping for that potshot from the Guardians.
So maybe shuricannons/scatterlasers/starcannons on the Guardians and BL's on the big guy.
I'd lovd to run dark reapers but I don't currently have any. Nor do I have scorpions/harlies, so for counter attack I'm gonna give the banshees a shot.
Time to reassess my list lol!
Thanks again!

The Banshees have problems and yes, they are the worst unit in the Codex, but what a 'Dex that is! Even with S3 they have 3 AP3 swings in charge + the Exarch works as a MEQ/TEQ Sgt-challenger/assassin. The only problem is the low Toughness and armour, obviously. The overall problem is that most of your army works in a short range and you have very little stuff to force the enemy to come at you. My idea here: When one unit of Guardians stays in an backfield objective, the other one advances. Meanwhile the Lord follows bringing support and soaking ammo, and behind your Guardians the Banshees advance. Then, when you get close enough the remaining Guardians will dance away and your Banshees will rush at the enemy. May not be the best of solutions but whit Banshees distracting in the backfield and Lords sucking heavy ammo, your Spiritseers can cast Shrouded to any unit that needs to make it the most (if they shoot at Guardians, your Banshees will make it. If they shoot at your Banshees, they should get a nice 4+ cover from Guardians + Conceal). That's the best I'll give you today, good luck to your game (let us know how it went) and now -> to bed. Soomemafia out! EDIT: spelling

Thanks for the advice on the banshees, I will probably do just that. And with the potentiL mobility of the banshees I shouldn't even have to get too close with said Guardian squad.
So after a quick once over, the new list looks like this:
Farseer
Spiritseer
x6 Banshees, Exarch, Executioner
x10 Guardians, Starcannon
x10 Guardians, Shuriken Cannon
x6 Swooping Hawks
Wraithlord, Glaive, double Brightlances
This actually puts me at 725pts out of 750.... gotta figure out what to put in as I don't have any more Banshees or Hawks to bolster the existing squads...
Thanks!

The second list looks pretty good. Grab an exarch for the hawk squad with a sunrifle.
