I'm playing in the inter-school league in November and this is my list.

HQ
Sorcerer MoT, Sigil of Corruption, 3 levels, terminator armour

Troops
10 cultists, 5 autoguns
5 thousand suns

Heavy Supports
Defiler, power scourge

What do you think?

the defilers pretty scary at low points but your capturing units will get eaten pretty quick.
I like the sorc though maybe just go cultists like 20 mans with nothing on them or MoT aswell. Could work

Iron Warriors

Problem is you auto-lose against the inevitable extremely-unpleasant-person (to put in polite terms) that brings double riptides at this points level. I'm not kidding, the other week I saw a guy down at my local GW doing what they called a 'chuck norris challenge' wherein a guy who took double Riptide tau, 600 pts, managed to beat two other guys with 600 point armies. They had no AP2, and only killed a few Firewarriors, losing completely.

Reason being, you don't have a single scrap of effective and reliable AP2. Also, you have no way of getting scoring units off objectives entrenched in cover, short of good luck with the Defiler, and your entire list falls apart if someone brought enough AT or had enough luck to kill it.

At this points level, bringing a flying Daemon Prince might be a good idea as it tackles enemy MC's, infantry and is considerably hard to kill. You want minimal points put into scoring (where minimal still means they'll actually get to the objectives) and maximum points put into killing power, you want to rip those nasty units like Riptides to pieces because they destroy you.

Thousand Sons might be nice against the Marines you take on but in general they're not very good at all and abysmal in a tournament because if you're not facing someone with AP2/3 or Marines then the points invested into them are wasted some way or another.

Yeah it's cool right? Every year secondary schools from around the UK get together at Warhammer world for an open day in November and then a knock-out style league in May where you have to be at a certain place to advance to the next stage.
