This is my first post on DakkaDakka, and the first time I'm outsourcing for list feedback outside of those I play with so forgive me if I screw up abit.

The tourney limits us to 1000 points a piece and roughly 1 unit from each slot outside of troops, which can be 2-3 selections. My friend is playing either space marines or Chaos space marines, we haven't determined, but I'm for sure going with Necrons as their paint job is easiest for me to do and I've enjoyed success in 1 on 1s with them so far.

The list is:
Overlord 100pts
warscythe

2x Lords 130 pts

1x Necron Immortals full squads 170 points
2x Necron Immortals 9 per squad 153 points per
Gauss Blaster/flayer(can't remember what the bloody thing is called)

Doomsday ark 175 points

Aegis Defence Line 85 points
Icarus Lascannon


My idea is to split the court amongst the two 9 man Immortals and let them capture objectives or shoot units as they need, use the doomsday ark to destroy squads out in the open or potentially pop those big tanks out on the field, and use the icarus lascannon manned by the Overlord and the final 10 man squad of immortals to deal with any airborne threats out on the field, aswell as hitting tanks or things I'd rather not deal with up close. I'm not overly attached to this list, I struggled because there are so many good things in the codex I've never gotten to play around with before. Local meta is space marines for the most part, of both flavors, with abit of the Xenos races mixed in.

You may not need the Icarus Lascannon/Aegis Defence line to deal with enemy air, as Necrons have widely regarded the best air force in the game.

So my suggestion is drop that and purchase on of the flyers, the transport would be neat for your troops or court as you can drop them next to an objective, or the Doom Scythe with it's strength 10 Ap 1 pie plate.

If you take the Doom Scythe, you may find no need for Doomsday ark. The doomsday ark is only 1 less strength than the death ray on the Doom Scythe, plus the doomsday ark has the problem of a big gun mounted on a (relatively_ fragile platform.

In exchange for the doomsday ark, think about an annihilation barge. However if your CSM buddy brings along his heldrakes, just get him to vector strike them on some flyers and you can stick with the list you've got.

That's all my suggestions, aside from one last thing is that it's worth giving your Overlord Sempiternal wave, for 15pts you get a 2+ save...well worth it.

The doomscythe doesn't have a pie plate.

I would drop the royal court lords and give the overlord 2+ armor and mindshackle scarabs. Bump all the immortals to 10. Use the leftover points to bring some scarabs and/or an annihilation barges

Awesome suggestions guys, I do like the Necron fliers I've just never had any luck with fliers of any kind. My Stormraven got blasted from the sky every time I used it so I shy away from fliers but this might be the time to fix that.

I'd like to keep the Royal court, only because having my troops fall down only to get back up is awesome and kind of makes up for how small in comparison to some armies my troops are.

And we're still debating him playing Chaos but it's looking that way. The tournament says we can have up to two things with the flyer list, and if I take the Doom Scythe that'll let us take care of tank spam aswell, what with deathray being a line.

But either way, still a decent option - just make sure you knock out any AA (at this point in the game there really isn't much unless your facing Space Marines, IG or Tau)

Last time around for this tournament I saw alot of Aegis defence lines, for the obvious reason of Intercept. My original plan was to use my own turret and the Doomsday Ark to knock theirs out and let my friends Heldrake run the field until less advanced forms of AA knocked it out, while in turn knocking their fliers out
