Subject: 250 unpainted skaven, can't find the energy to start :(

So I have this Skaven army. So far it is completely unpainted, all my limited painting time has been spent on other projects.
I keep looking at my army and thinking it really does need some paint on it, but the task now looks so big it fills me with dread.
I am going to try and start soon, I have found a couple of hours a week painting time that I can commit to, I just need to finish off a couple of display models first.
So If any one has any advice on how to tackle this beast I will b very great full.
Cheers

Two things
1. Get a can of spray primer (unless you have an airbrush) in the base color you are going to use. This will speed up the process tremendously.
2. Break it up into smaller chunks, like ten man painting modules, put the rest out of site so it's not as intimidating.
3. ?
4. Profit.

Grab one unit. Put it on your painting table/space. Stick the rest in a box and put it away.
Then assemble/clean mold lines on that one unit. Prime em all and start laying in base color assembly line fashion.
Now, with skaven, your 'unit' could be 40+ so you might even want to break it into 10 model groups. But the key point is to not have 250 bare plastic/metal rats staring at you... with those wee beady eyes and their smug grin...

cool, thanks for the advice. I
I will have to keep the ones i'm not painting off my desk or there will be no room LOL
but yeah I guess it will be a matter of just chipping away.
I can't work our if it will be better to get the whole army to a basic 3 colour standard first, one unit at a time, are completely paint each unit included shadow + highlight before moving on.
They are all primed so far, However I did it in grey not the base colour of the army.

If you're not going to get around to painting them properly and have that many, go for an easy paint scheme so it actually gets done. Mate has several hundred 'nids. Went for an undercoat + 2 washes scheme, 1 each for the carapace and flesh and then some very minimal detailing. Tabletop standard, but so much better than grey plastic and didn't take much time at all. Maybe 5 mins per mini from priming to varnishing. I don't know much about skaven, maybe you could do similar... undercoat a light brown, wash a darker brown, then pick out the metal bits then some of the other details.

Prime them white.
Pick 2 colors for shirts/pants
Dip them in some form of wash
Done.
That will give you time to paint the cooler guys slower and make them look better. Blobs of cannonfodder dont need to be super detailed.

Find a Krylon or Rustoleum Camo Brown and use that as your primer. It will make drybrushing the fur very easy.

cool thanks for the suggestions. I have primed them all ready, but I could get my spray gun out for the base coat.
