Majority that is.

I'm looking to pick myself up a few (probably 9 for good measure) and am contemplating running them with their Instant Death melee + Assault 2 Death Heads

Do people find its better to forgo the shooting, and simply conserve points?

I was thinking the shooti and Rot Proboscis could be pretty dangerous as well, depending on the situation, obviously if I were to fight Tyranids with MCs the Instant Death approach would seem better but..

How does Dakka view them?

Unit of 7 with icon and death heads as an icon delivery system and fast-for-nurgle annoyance unit.

Zoom upfield, park in cover if possible for cover save goodness.

Rest of army jumps in around it...

Death's heads are fun if you fight MCs a lot, and give them shooting attacks.

Never really done well with the instant death stings.

The Viletide: Daemons of Nurgle/Deathguard: 7400 pts
Disclples of the Dragon - Ad Mech - about 2000 pts
GSC - about 2000 Pts
Rhulic Mercs - um...many...
Circle Oroboros - 300 Pts or so
Menoth - 300+ pts

I've ran 6 with Rot Nose and a Plagubringer (ch) with Lesser Gift (ap2 sword) to good effect. They're fast, durable without requiring Grimoire, and pretty mean in combat with Prescience.

The downside being that they really need Prescience to be effective in combat. That Plaguebringer is a boss tho. Oh, and good luck against Tau. :( Ignores cover weaponry really hurts them.

All in all, I like them for the pts because they give me a fast assault unit that can threaten almost anything (beware Instant Death.. Instability checks suck), and still let me use Grimoire on Fateweaver. Hounds and Seekers, on the other hand, really don't have much staying power without Grimoire on them.
