Anyone using helpful applications such as an army builder type app', or rules, codices that you just find handy? The Mrs. just hooked me up with the gear I am ready to get this thing going. I've seen folk with iPads at the side of the table, just what are you using?

First off, keep an eye out for iTunes card deals, there is all sorts of websites with up to date info on where to get them for cheap. I snagged $500 worth of cards for 50% off. Its a nice way to get around GWs tyrannical prices.
Don't bother with GWs psychic power app, it costs a fortune if you get them all.

Rick Priestley said it best:
Bryan always said that if the studio ever had to mix with the manufacturing and sales part of the business it would destroy the studio. And I have to say – he wasn’t wrong there! The modern studio isn’t a studio in the same way; it isn’t a collection of artists and creatives sharing ideas and driving each other on. It’s become the promotions department of a toy company – things move on!

That is sound advise to an iPad newb! Thanks.
How is everyone making army lists now days, just good old fashioned pen and paper?

Battlescribe is a good, free program. It has issues (I dislike the output) but it does work.

Battlescribe is great and free, no ipad app yet, but the iPhone version works just fine, just a bigger screen.

+1 for battle scribe. It's free, and it does anything you could really want as far as list building.

10-4 Orkybenji thanks. So paying for the apps just keeps advertisments off right? Or is there another benefit to paying?

I've never used it on an iPad, but I have Quartermaster on my iPhone and it is tremendous. Easily worth the $5 to upgrade over the fine but not great Battlescribe.

I spent the last 12 hours trying to figure this Battlescribe out, I made progress but I'm not there yet.

Yes there is always that, but the fellows had mentioned free, I was curious the difference for the user. If none other than lack of adverts then fine.

+1 for quartermaster. I have both qm and battlescribe.
I prefer quartermaster. Templates are easy to edit straight from the app for corrections, and can also be found on qmtemplates.com. Its much smoother imho and you can copy/paste a unit if your using multiple identical squads or army if you want to only change small details. Edit: also QM keeps track of points usage by % of the total army per FOC. So you can see how much of the army points each slot takes. Helps me kee track if im light on troops or what not (i try to be around 30-40% for troops)
Battlescribe is free though, and has a pc version so you can switch around. Cant edit corrections on your ios device though. Templates can be found online also (cant remember where). On the pc, you can also input weapon profiles, special rules which shows up on the bottom of your army list's printout.
