Finished my Gunship. Overall fairly pleased with it.

Correct. Despite countless millennia of evolution, technological advances and civilization, we're still monkeys throwing feces at things we don't like.-Zed.

Imperial Flyers don't actually "fly" they just go fast enough that they fall in an arc that keeps them parallel to the ground. -Clockwork Zion

Thanks!

Been working on it off and on for a few weeks. Actual time to complete... probably 6-10 hours all told. Not counting drying time for varnish or decal solution.

Very nice looking. Swamp/Woodland is a great color scheme when the green is done well as yours is.

The only thing that I don't like about this model is the vents. They look a little flat. Have you tried shading the recesses?

I used Vallejo Airbrush Surface Primer - Black and then I used Badger Minitaire Swamp Ground for the base and Badger Minitaire Pestilential Flesh for the highlights. These were all applied with an airbrush.

I have considered it... I am trying to go for a heat glow effect. Wouldn't the inside be glowing as hot or hotter than the outside edges? Still, it might look better that way... I'll take a look at the images in Gimp and play with the shading and see if it will look good before putting paint to model. Thanks!

Love it! I once did a commision for a tau client who gave me "artists choice" for his tau's colourscheme. I ended up with something quite similar to this.

The olive drab colour just works great for this race. Better than the usual desert theme I think.

Keep up the good work!

My guess for creating a heat glow effect would be to go extreme with it. In other words, make the creases really bright and the outer edges really dark.

Well done. Very clean, I like the weathering on the front of the tank.
As for the heat effect, I agree with Quarter. The outer parts and edges of the engine would be the quickest to cool, and the inner parts would take much longer as they are closer to the source. Therefore I would recommend bright (white/yellow) for the middle of the vents and work towards a dark red on edges.

I really like it. I prefer Tau to be painted in realistic camoflage colors with plenty of weathering, they look a lot better that way. IMHO they look like toy soldiers (I know they are, but still) if they are painted in a very bright color scheme.

Adding pics of the Skyray turret for the magnetized gunship. The missiles are individually magnetized to keep track of the limited ammunition from the skyray!
