Hey all, Im running a fluff Hawk Lords list and cant decide on a HQ. Currently, my list is

Captain with teeth of terra and artificer armour-145

Venerable Dreadnought with multimelta-125

3 Tactical squads all with 10 men, a melta, combimelta, and vet sarge-170/each for a total of 510

2 Scout squads- both 5 men with bolters in storms with heavy flamers-100/each for total of 200

3 storm talons-330

3 stormravens, all with tl heavy bolters, assault cannons, and hurricane bolters-690.

plan is fly around and dakka most light/medium infantry to death, and deploy from ravens and unload meltas into any heavy armour and camp objectives. with UM tactics, all my tac squads should have a fantastic shooting phase (even the scouts shouldnt suck too bad). The captain is decent in melee ( 3 base +1 for charge and additional d3 if outnumbered at I5 Str6 AP3), he should hew through MEQ. But for 20pts more, i can have tigurius, reroll All my reserve rolls, have a lvl 3 hood, AND use divination. only thing is, hes not too survivable.

also, just realized i can get 5 sternguard, all with combigrav for the same price as a tac squad. worth it? comments, suggestions appreciated. thanks.

I think that if you can fit Tiggy, you should. He seems, from what I've read, to be a great buy. His special rules mitigate all of the downsides that come with psychers. Also, it shouldn't matter that he is not that survivable since his role is not to be a beat-stick; his role is to be a force multiplier.

I am not sure what the role of the Ven Dread is other than to assure you have enough deployed unit at the start of the game to have the rest in reserves. I think it may not be worth the points and think the points may be better spent elsewhere.

Given that you have 6 fliers, you should not even ask us if you should take Tigurius.
