Chaos Space Marine dedicated to Slaanesh
|
Took a break to get some IRL stuff sorted out and the freakin' meta changes! All kidding aside, the box containing my bikers went "missing" a couple of months ago. I'm now trying to re-build my Emp's Kids without my unholy Biker Sorcs of Slaanesh Deathstar(sadness), and without my lovely Defilers(things just aren't working out mathematically this edition). I haven't fought the new Tau or SMs yet, so I'm just trying to whip up something with what I have that can at least feign being a TAC list. My strategy is to keep the majority of my army spread out through my deployment the first couple turns, Helbrutes targeting any transports or hard vehicles while my Noise Marines soften up infantry(Helbrutes assist with Frag Missiles if no vehicles present). Chaos Lord will foot slog with the cultists to play mop-up duty if softer infantry get exposed by transport popping. Gun lines are not to be assaulted until they've been thinned by Blastmasters, Frag Missiles and Havoc fire. Raptors Deep Strike and Heldrake Heldrakes. Around turn 3 or 4, everything but the Helbrutes start advancing forward towards objectives that have been cleared. So, without adding the Mark of Nurgle to anything, can this list stand or will it be laughed at?

Here's what I've gathered from watching my friend play Slaanesh CSM:
-Don't mix Blast Masters and Sonic Blasters in squads because they're used for different targets
-Because Heldrake (as the saying goes)

Slaanesh Havoc with Blastmaster

I agree with Brometheus. You really should split your blasmasters and sonic blasters.
And yeah....I would probably put a second heldrake in there.

HQ - Slaanesh Lord, Terminator Armor, Power Maul, Power Axe, Burning Brand, Melta Bombs Nothing really bad here, I'd nix the melta bombs however; if you're using the cultists as a meatshield for him as a footslogging thing, you don't really want to go near vehicles.
Troops - 35 Cultists, 3 Flamers Perfect cultist blob, nothing bad to say.
- 10 Noise Marines, 2 Blastmasters, Power Sword + Melta Bomb , Rhino Nix the blastmasters from here, and fill up on sonic blasters, as you'd really want a unit of this size for mid-range combat, which the sonic blasters excel at.
- 5 Noise Marines, 3 Sonic Blasters, Blastmaster, Melta Bomb, Rhino Take the rhino, melta bomb and sonic blasters off, as the blastmaster is best suited for longer range encounters from a static firing position.
- 5 Noise Marines, 3 Sonic Blasters, Blastmaster, Melta Bomb, Rhino - Ditto.

Can't really comment here, as I've never used Helbrutes. YMMV though.
FA - 5 Raptors, 2 Meltas + Melta Bomb I love Raptors, and this is the perfect loadout. Personally though, I'd try and give these guys MoS, that I5 can be helpful if you engage in CC.
- 5 Raptors, 2 Meltas + Melta Bomb Ditto
- Heldrake, Baleflamer Ah, the CSM poster boy. Great rules, use it well.
Heavy - 10 Havocs, 4 Autocannons, Icon of Vengeance 10 Havocs is a bit much, I'd nix a handful (maybe 5) and spread the rest elsewhere.

The only reason I have Melta Bombs on the Lord and most of my Champs is that I have a friend who plays BT that is fond of Drop Pod Dreadnaughts. I'm pretty much expecting to get assaulted by one or two at some point, and I'm trying to save points by not taking a Power Fist.
Troops - 35 Cultists, 3 Flamers Perfect cultist blob, nothing bad to say. Peachy.
- 10 Noise Marines, 2 Blastmasters, Power Sword + Melta Bomb , Rhino Nix the blastmasters from here, and fill up on sonic blasters, as you'd really want a unit of this size for mid-range combat, which the sonic blasters excel at. This squad I've been using as a long distance hammer before moving up and assaulting. I forgot to mention they traded their Bolters for CCWs. I'll give the maxed Sonic Blasters a shot, see how it plays out.
- 5 Noise Marines, 3 Sonic Blasters, Blastmaster, Melta Bomb, Rhino Take the rhino, melta bomb and sonic blasters off, as the blastmaster is best suited for longer range encounters from a static firing position. The Rhinos on these units are solely to keep them from getting wiped Turn 1 by enemy Heldrakes, Battle Cannons, and so on. Every time I've fielded them without a Rhino they have died too quickly to fire their Blastmaster more than once. The Sonic Blasters are to give them a little more punch in the event a blob of something thinks they're just gonna run over the squad, but I can move them to the larger squad.

Can't really comment here, as I've never used Helbrutes. YMMV though. I've had a pretty good bit of use out of these guys. I keep them at the back of my army with their backs against against walls and hand out the dakka. It's amazing when they get the Crazed roll that let's them shoot all weapons twice.
FA - 5 Raptors, 2 Meltas + Melta Bomb I love Raptors, and this is the perfect loadout. Personally though, I'd try and give these guys MoS, that I5 can be helpful if you engage in CC.
- 5 Raptors, 2 Meltas + Melta Bomb Ditto I'm a huge fan of Slaanesh Raptors for CC(I have a BA friend who hates the idea that I have Jump Infantry that can take his on and win lol), but I need to buy more Raptors, as a chunk of my collection went missing. 15 Slaanesh Raptors with the IoE, LC Champ and Flamers are just....... beautiful.
Along with the Heldrake, these guys are my primary Anti-Air unit. I have the squad maxed so the Autocannons have a layer of Bolter scrubs to take hits, as a Rhino hinders the squad more by denying shots.

So, I dropped 3 Havocs and moved the Sonic Blasters to the larger squad. I'm keeping the Blastmasters in the big squad. I keep seeing people say things like "They're used for different targets", but they're both Anti-Infantry weapons that Ignore Cover. Also, now stay with me here, sometimes you actually WANT to use the Assault setting. There, I said it. Sometimes four heavy bolter shots are more accurate than two small blasts. I also gave that squad the Icon of Excess, because standing out in the open is going to hurt. After all of that, I still had 6 points left, so each of the small squads is taking a Sonic Blaster just to shoot out of the Rhino.
