Hey guys! I'm planning to go to a tourney midway through March next year. It's still some time away but I'm going to take my Eldar and I still need to buy some stuff for my list. Do you guys have any suggestions to make it better,
or some tips and strategies in game. Thanks!

HQ: The Avatar of Khaine w/ Disarming Strike - 215 PTS

+ Wave Serpent w/ Scatter Laser, Holo Fields & Spirit Stones - 145 PTS

Troop: 10 Guardians w/ Scatter Laser - 110 PTS
+ Wave Serpent w/ Scatter Laser, Holo Fields & Spirit Stones - 145 PTS

Troop: 3 Windrider Jetbikes - 51 PTS

Elite: 8 Striking Scorpions, Exarch w/ Scorpions Claw - 176 PTS

Fast Attack: 10 Warp Spiders - 190 PTS

Heavy Support: Fire Prism w/ Holo Fields - 140 PTS

Heavy Support: 3 War Walkers w/ 2 Scatter Lasers each - 210 PTS

Total: 1747 PTS

Thanks Again!

Hey dude.

Personally think eldrad is a waste of points. Both the runes got heavily nerfed in this edition, and I just don't think he has enough on top of those to make him 105 Pts more than a standard seer.

Additionally I think fast shot is better on the avatar. 2 shots from that wailing doom really hurts! And if you' going tourney, consider monster hunter and use him for exactly that!

Your core of troops is good in my opinion, but personally I'd take chin cannons for the serpents over spirit stones! They really don't need the stones. If you keep the shields up they'll ignore most pens anyway, and it'll mean your lasers can twin link the cannons for S6 with bladestorm.

I do think this list will seriously struggle with armour. Av12, 13 & 14 will be a real issue for you. Perhaps fire dragons instead of scorpions and a Serpent from the points saved from eldrad would be nice tank hunters? (I've ran scorpions and no matter what you do I ind them far too squishy!) alternatively a wraith lord or even a wraith knight! The Lord with two lances is very nice, plus has multiple uses. As a character he can precision hit bad guy characters! And as a tank hunter he's good too. As for knights, when used correctly they are devastating! Trust me - people struggle with them.

Perhaps think of a Shuricannon for the jetbikes too. Gives them a bit of hurt to lay down! And with their mobility, you could be facing tank rear armour in no time!

Thanks, you brought up heaps of good points. I usually take Scorpions because I already have some, I got the Old School ones. But if I end up having a bigger budget I'll swap em with something else. I'll post my re formed list. Thanks!

I love scorpions dude! I think the models are cool too. But I just don't think they are dangerous in 6th Ed. It's a very shooty edition. Combats been smashed.

Be good to see your list. Remember, all of that is just my opinion though!

The Twilight Zone

Ill agree with most of what Khaine's Wrath said. Eldrad is OK, but it is hard to justify his cost compared to a regular seer, particularly if he is meched up. A normal farseer, or even a spiritseer would be a better fit for your list.

Disarming strike is nice for the avatar, but not required. Do take fast shot, regardless of the other power you take.

Agree about swapping spirit stones for a chin cannon. As for your guardians the weapon platform in a serpent is a nice thing to have should the serpent explode and you want to tank saves on the platform and not lose the squad. However, you want something other than a scatter laser. The serpent gives the guardians the ability to get close, where you will use their catapults for the bladestorm. A shuricannon is cheap and meshes with the catapults, starcannon is a similar story. Bright lance adds some AT your list could use. Try em all, see which one you like best. Scatter lasers are great for foot guardians, but a waste in a serpent. Alternatively, drop the weapon altogether.

Scorpions are pretty good, but ten is ideal as they are basically an exarch delivery system. Also, take monster hunter; it is a steal for the boost you get. A squad of 10 scorpions including a claw exarch with the power can drop a tervigon in a single turn(shooting+assault).

Second your need for more heavy AT. Your only anti 14 is the prism. Spiders and serpent shields can glance av13 to death, but that is unreliable. I also suppose the Avatar can help here, but making an assault is unreliable so all the more reason to take fast shot.

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

I will always question the scorpions, but they're not that bad, and I can see your reasons. 10 is a good delivery system for the exarch, who really is the only one worth his salt. I'm also not sure on the points cost of the avatar, but again that's just me, and my little brother uses him to epic effect!

Other than those points, which are purely opinion based and nothing more, I think it is a really strong and solid list! looks relatively fun to play too.......NEVER thought I'd say that about a list with no ghost warriors!

Id worry bout ability to deal with av13 + at range might be worth swapping a scatter for a lance on the serpents because right now you only have fire prism and if its anything like mine the gunners often drunk and will miss when you most need a hit

Yea, that has happened a couple of times. But it has also blown up a Land Raider Turn 1. Spiders can kill AV13 because of their +1 Str Rule. I've found not too many people take Land raiders anymore. And the serpents and jetbikes can get behind tank fast. Thanks Guys!

I strongly, strongly disagree with those saying to take the BL on the Serpents over SL. If you want Bright Lances (and you do), the better place to put them is on the War Walkers - either 2xBL each or 1xSL 1xBL each, depending on whether or not you plan to have the Farseer casting Guide/Prescience on them (I would recommend it).

The reason you want the TLSL on the Serpents is to twin-link the Serpent Shield and Shuricannon without having to waste Guide/Prescience. This interaction is what pushes Wave Serpents from "good" to "best unit in the codex".

Lastly, I would find the points to get your Farseer a Jetbike and a Mantle - if you don't, he'll have to ride in a Serpent to avoid being shot to hell, and if he's in a Serpent or on foot after deploying, he won't be able to pass out buffs/debuffs effectively.

To make room for the Jetbike/Mantle, I would consider dropping the Warlock - Conceal/Reveal can be useful if your plan is to sit Guardians in cover-granting terrain on a backfield objective, but that would be a waste of the Avatar's Fearless bubble and the shootiness of the Guardians. Dropping the Warlock and 1 Scorpion would give you just enough points for the Mantle/Jetbike. If you don't have a Farseer modeled to be on a Jetbike, you can do an easy conversion with a Guardian Weapons Platform - just take off the weapon and treat it as an "anti-grav board", placing the Farseer on top.

Lastly, it's been pointed out that the Scorpions are just a tough unit to make work without an assault transport to deliver them. That said, if you play on a board with lots of terrain for them to slink through and stay out of enemy LOS before they pounce, they have a chance at earning their point cost. Just remember that Scorpions are too fragile to rush in headlong, they have to choose the fights they pick wisely.

Overall though, good list that looks like fun to play, and I hope you do well with it!

Yeah when running a Farseer you really need to either have him in a durable unit (Wraithguard with Conceal or Support Weapon Batteries are the best choices) or run him with the Mantle on a Jetbike. Remember that all powers need LOS to cast, so as it stands the only thing he can effect is the Avengers or Guardians (whichever he is with) unless the unit is outside a transport (which drastically shortens its life expectancy). Its pretty easy for you to trim points from this list though, the Warlock can disappear (35), you can lose the Cannon off the Jetbikes and Prism for another 20. You can also lose the Bright Lance off the Guardians and Disarm off the Avatar without hurting the list much and if you are desperate you can trim 1-2 guys from the Spiders or Scorpions without removing the units as a threat. Tbh with this list I would try and squeeze in 3 Vibrocannons rather than take the Mantle since you have the Heavy slots to work with. Its not a hyper mobile list as you have the Avatar, Scorpions and Walkers so you don't have to worry about them getting isolated and you don't exactly have that much anti tank firepower.

Yea, you guys have brought up some good points but I still need to play test and find my perfect playstyle.

ummmm no. like all the other ^^^ BL=war walkers.scatter lasers=wave serpents. simple as that.'

as for the lsit, i would split spiders into 2 5 mqan squads for more options on where to place them. only thin a 10 man unit has over 2 5man is that it is better anti air, but only when guided.

2 5 man will do more damage.
