Zandros of the Orbiting Blades: Zandros embodies Khaine as aggressive retaliation, and this is reflected in his Shrines. Zandros is a powerful battlekine, a telekine who trains their powers to be as subtle with a blade as a trained hand. Zandros's armour is inlaid with several large oval shapes, that in the midst of battle detach from his armour and orbit him, held aloft by shimmering psykic power. When battle dawns on him, these orbiting planets sprout mono molecular blades and spin at great speed, orbiting Zandros until he is cocooned in slicing blades. Zandros then strides into battle in surety, walking elegantly into the midst of raging hordes of greenskins only for them to turn to paste as they his the shimmering wall of blades. When the enemy is broken, Zandros then sends the Orbs spinning after them, to clense the universe of the taint.

Many thought Zandros lost to the fury of the Dark Phoenix, for when Ahra fell from the light Zandros, his Temple and his world where the first to feel his wrath. Amid his Shattered temple the Dark Phoenix did battle with the Shadow Hunter, leading him away from the temple. In this time bought the last surviving disciple took up the rent and ruined phoenix armour. His soul merged with that of the original phoenix lord, and Zandros was reborn. Zandros then made haste to help the shadow hunter from the shadows. He knew to interfere with such titans would be a death wish, so Zandros watched, pouring his considerable psykic energy to enhance Karandras's already impossible reflexes. Killing blows deflected of thin air, eviscerating strikes landed where Karandras was a split second before. Ahra grew into a fury, his ego shattered by what it seemed his once disciple was almost effortlessly out manoeuvring him. When Karandras faded into the shadows, so too did Zandros, fade, into Myth and legend. Few Shrines are made in his name, and fewer still has Zandros actually stepped upon. Legend says that Zandros is on a secret mission of great import, for what else could keep a Phoenix Lord from his Sons and Daughters?

Unit Type: Infantry (Character)

Wargear: Phoenix Armour.

Special Rules: Ancient Doom, Battle Focus, Fearless, Fleet, Independent character, Eternal Warrior, Psyker (Mastery level 2). May only roll on the Telekinesis table, SoulFire.

SoulFire: All Phoenix Lords burn with an inner fire and when viewed with warp sight they appear as shining entities of pure SoulFire. Each Phoenix Armour is akin to a miniture infinity circuit, each housing thousands of Eldar souls, creating a deep well of psykic power to call upon when needed so that even to a Lord not skilled in the arts of the Seer can deflect crippling psykic blows.

Grants Adamantium Will USR. When a Deny the Witch attempt is successful any enemy psykers, daemons (As defined in the Grey knight Faq) or Eldar within 12'' must make a Blind Test as if they where hit with a blind causing weapon.

Exarch Powers: Fast Shot. Keening Blades (All of Zandros's attacks are rending, ranged and Close Combat)

Warlord Trait: Ambush of Blades.

Remnant of Glory.

The Slicing Orbs.

Range 18'' Str 5 Ap - Assault 2, Blast, Pinning
OR

Melee Str +1 Ap -, Bladed Rotation (+d6 attack)

*Note that the increased stat-line are not because my phoenix lord is any better then the others, but because I feel ALL phoenix lords should have that stat-line. I don't like how a Dark Eldar Slutubus has more melee skill then someone who has trained for Millennia. SoulFire would also affect all phoenix lords, raising each of their point prices by 10/15 points.. Each Phoenix Lord fits a different niche, I wanted Zandros to cover Hordes better then any of the other lords. He does so with lots of attacks, and 3 very accurate blasts (Which should only his 2/3 tops), while lacking the AP to deal with other units consistently. What do you think?*

I like this one. Lot of thought put into it, and yes, a Phoenix Lord wouldn't be outdone in martial skill by anyone short of a daemon god. It's not so much as having trained for millennium, since each Phoenix Lord is an amalgamation of all the souls he or she has absorbed. It's literally millennium upon millennium of combat expertise layered on each other, the manifold experience of applied combat knowledge of each Exarch which has served to reanimate the Lord and Exarchs are no pushovers contrary to what the game would have you think.

That said: Time for you to make the Exarch Shrine

The Slicing Orbs look like a fairly decent Aspect Weapon, while Keening Blades sound like the name for the Remnant of Glory. I'd give him Battle Fate as compensation. Although I'd not keep Bladed Rotation for the Aspect Warriors, possibly give the weapon some form of knockdown or similarly described USR, or simply give it AP5 for that Horde-killer.

Mastery Level 2 sounds a bit odd for a Pheonix Lord, though, since these are mortal Eldar forged into weapons to the God of Murder. The seer paths belonged to other Gods.

I really need to stay away from the 40K forums.

I see this guy as a perfect PL for the Warp Spiders. With a bit of tweak, he fits them seamlessly. Not trying to take away from your idea, just admiring you for creating something special and yet so true to the tabletop.

I like him, the eldar do need an aspect that can do horde control in range and melee.

It is a bit odd that he is psychic, but I guess there is no reason why there couldn't be a psychic aspect. The eldar are a pretty diverse race after all.

Looking forward to seeing what you do with the warp spider phoenix lord!
