OK Isdon'thave the rule book in front of me, but if I have a unit manning a quad gun andtthe enemy is shooting, doesthe ffriendly unit use the toughness of the gun because Ithink it says ssomething like that in the section about artilleryand gun emplacements?

A gun emplacement doesn't join units. No, the unit won't benefit from its toughness

Basically the only reason it has a profile is if it gets hit. it's reflecting that while its a sturdy piece of wargear its still not an armoured vehicle.
