So I'm getting back into 40k after a 6 month hiatus thanks to the USArmy. I played flyer spam Crons before I left and don't want to go back to that. So me and a buddy picked up DV to refresh ourselves with the rules and to kick start new armies. That being said I took DA and am not sure where I want to go with the army now. I like the Idea of either a Ravenwing or Deathwing but if it's at all possible I'd like to find a really balanced fun list. I don't currently have the codex but maybe you guys can help me out. What unit's should I pick up next and what lists are fun right now?
Last time I played Imperium was SW before my crons and they were a lot of fun but it was also a pretty spammy list and so I want to avoid that here if at all possible.

Hello and welcome back after your break!

If you are looking for a fun list then a deathwing list would serve that purpose however they aren't very competitive as there is a lot of ap2 stuff out there which will just cut down your forces.

If you were to do a deathwing list you'd definitely need to take Belial as your HQ as he makes all deathwing elites scoring units (something like that anyway, not got my codex to hand). You'll be deep striking a lot of your force aswell and he prevents them from scattering.

A DW command squad with an apothecary wouldn't go a miss either

Stick in a land raider aswell so you can move the foot slogging ones around a bit

You should then have room for a few standard DW units in there with a few heavy weapons, heavy flamers or the assault cannons are good with each squad.

Pretty simple list to run with.

DW units cost a fortune in terms of points so there isn't much room for much else.

Recommend you pick up the codex aswell pal
