Hey guys. Two of my buds who I play alot play Salamanders. They use drop pods with sternguard and they drop down Turn 1 and devastate half my army. I play Eldar and Blood Angels. It's not a huge worry for my BA but my Eldar just get wiped. Anyone got tactics to survive flamers, anything? Thanks

Aside from spacing out your infantry, there's not much you can do to protect them that isn't taking them off the board, which gives you two options.

Put your guardians/troops into Wave Serpents.
Reserve anything that's vulnerable. You can have your guardians walk on the board on turn 2, and gun down whatever marines are there.

Wave Serpents/Vehicles/Wraith units can survive the flamers, so leave them on the board.

8,000 pts and counting
1,000 points, now painting.

The name of the game is 'bubble wrap' and it will save your bacon.

http://www.belloflostsouls.net/2012/08/40k-tactics-making-breaking-bubble-wraps.html

The basic concept of a Drop Pod list is to land down and remove your most critical units turn 1. Get enough Meltaguns and Flamers in those pods and you can neatly remove your opponents ability to fight back.
Of course the whole concept is that your firepower is really, really tasty at short ranges. The defence for you is therefore to force him to land further away, so that his big guns are denied big targets.

In this case it means 'bubble wrapping' your more valuable models with a layer of cheap, expendable dudes. If your wrap is deployed properly it will make it impossible for the Pods to land close enough to slag your tanks, HQ, elites etc. Instead they are forced to 'waste' that turn-1 punch on your basic troops, after which you can unload a relatively intact army into a few badly unsupported and isolated units of Marines.
