This weekend I got in a game of Tomorrow's War with a buddy of mine. I had mixed feelings going into the game. In the past,
TW has been hard for me to understand and didn't seem to have much flow. Some of this might have been due to playing multiplayer games, and it certainly wasn't helped by a rulebook that -while gorgeous in production- is terrible in clarity.
This game was much different. The action flowed well, and I was doing most gameplay with very little assistance by turn two. Unlike the last two times I've tried it, this time left me wanting to play the game again. It was also great to get my "Ventauran" figures back on the gameboard. They are some of my favorite vintage (though ) figs and don't usually see alot of action. Those interested can see my review of them here

A full writeup of the game by my opponent is here.

A few pics to whet your appetite.
In the end I won this one. I hadn't reached the bunker objective, but the Ventuarans Had mauled the mercs.
TW relies on the players to decide on victory conditions and without a strong points system
TW doesn't guarantee a balanced game. This does make the "I Won" feeling a bit less gleeful than games like
40k which pretend to be fair and balanced. On the other hand the playing experience and the tactics required result in a game that feels much more "real" than most games and I found this to be a fair trade off.
