Can Anrakyr The Traveller use MitM on allies of convenience?

[Based on P. 112 I would say it does not work, as you can not do anything to your AoC] (This is how I would Play it in the brackets)

The RAW seems to allow it though.

MitM is not a psychic power nor is it a weapon, and Anrakyr does treat all his allies as enemies, so I think it works just fine.

Why, though? Just to ignore a 'stunned' or 'shaken' result? Or is there another, even more nefarious purpose I'm not seeing?

Still, good catch!

Probably more for humour than anything would be my guess; the only practical application of this would be to ignore a shaken/stunned result temporarily as you've noticed.

Well, the idea was to fire a deathstrike off, overriding the firing requirements.

It doesn't ignore the weapons specific restrictions though. It says you ignore stunned shaken but not the weapons requirements (like ordnance + other weapons sap firing). I guess you could fire it's heavy bolter and and pintle mounted gun though.

its says pick an emeny vehicle and target one of you opponents units so technically no coz you would have to target you allies would you not?

Depends on the restrictions on a deathstrike missile to be honest; but remember that Anakyrs' ability doesn't override anything other than what it explicitly states it does. So, no firing something more than once a turn, no firing anything that doesn't have the appropriate ammunition still available, etc.

Hrrmmm...after a careful look at both rules, here's how it seems to me.

Anrakyr can NOT override the need to roll a d6 to fire, since you fire it "as if it were you own unit." Seems to me, however, that Anrakyr COULD use MitM to let you try and fire the Deathstrike twice! (Once the missile fires, obviously, you can't fire anymore, but until then you can still get two rolls a turn after the first turn.) What's more, when Anrakyr fires it, you DO ignore the proscriptions against firing when moving, as well as the negatives to the d6 roll for Shaken and Stunned results.

Allied Necrons in an IG list could bear some fruit. I'm gonna have to pitch this to a friend of mine.
