The 20 man Kroot squad bubblewraps the Broadsides (and TFCs) where possible and appropriate, and otherwise snipes at higher toughness targets where the opportunity presents itself. The Tau Commander bounces between the Riptide and the Broadsides depending on need. The 10 man Kroot squad outflanks to grab late objectives.

The bikes hunt high armor targets and bounce in and out of combat using hit & run, usually to allow the TFCs, Bikes, Riptide, Broadsides, and Storm Talons to shoot up the targets on my turn. The captain on the bike makes the bike troops possible and provides a melee punch that's otherwise lacking in the list.

I did consider Devastators and Dev Centurions as a possible replacement for the Broadsides, but neither provides the anti-flyer punch that the Broadsides do and the Dev Centurions (I'd go with the Grav Cannons and amps build) wouldn't get as much from the buffcommander as other units would.

Looks like a nice mesh up but I will consider some changes.

The Captain will deserve an AA. As the only CC element and even more important, you warlord, the more protection the better.

I'm asking my self if you really need Sniper shells in the little Kroot unit. I will eventually consider a Hound for the bigger unit too. This will allow you to outflank them too if the mission will deserve it.

If you're planning to use your bikers units as high armour hunters then you need them equipped with a MM Attack bike.

I'm even thinking about the 2 Stormtalons and to what they may add to the list apart being relative easy targets vs FMC, Necron Air Forces or other Tau - Tau/Eldar lists.

In fact I've drawn on paper a similar list but in my case completely upside down. Tau primary and WS as attached allies.

I like it. I was trying to build something similar but at 1850 points.

I like this list, quite a bit actually. Its very efficient and versatile and IMO has the makings of a competitive list.

Drop the Sniper rounds on the big Kroot squad and use those points to get AA on your Chapter Master, that 2+ is a premium on a Beatstick unit.

Good point on the artificer armor and the sniper rounds.

I found if I drop a missile drone and sniper rounds from the 10 man unit I have enough points for the armor as well as a hound for the big kroot squad.

As for the storm talons I've been using them for a while now and have really come to appreciate those little fragile workhorses for their ability to harass flanks and handle other flyers. The broadsides and riptide can do a lot of damage to other flyers, but I like having something else in case I badly misplay and they get tied up or destroyed

Unfortunately without dropping a storm talon I wouldn't be able to fit the mm attack bikes...

Why not completely drop the little Kroot squad and split your 20 Kroot unit into 2x 10 Kroot units? Would that buy you enough points to get the MM bike?

The idea is to have a unit that can bubble wrap against deep strikers/FMCs

I would drop one Bike from each squad, and upgrade the Captain to a Chapter Master and give him Artificer Armour.

I'd drop the Stimms from the Riptide and give him Velocity Trackers, and then I'd give the 20 man Kroot squad three Hounds. This gives you the option to outflank it against gunlines, and three Hounds give you a lot more range for assaulting (with their extra movement you'll put them up front for a conga-line towards whatever you want to charge on the turn after you show up). And since it's only 15 points, it's not a big deal if you don't use it.
