If I have a multiple combat in the following situation

Friendly unit A is assaulted by enemy units 1, 2 and 3 during the enemy's turn. All units remain locked in combat

Friendly unit B counter assaults engaging unit 1 who is the only one withing assault range.

So now during the pile-in moves can models from units 2 and/or 3 perform their pile-in moves to get in base to base contact and attack friendly unit B?

Does it matter that friendly unit B declared it's assault only against unit 1?

And on this note, if unit B's character declares a challenge, can a character from units 2 or 3 accept it? Or is the challenge only issued against unit 1?

Yes, as it is one single combat, with multiple units on each side.

You challenge the opponent in a combat, whether that is 1 unit or 100.
