I'm trying to make a list to go up against a Fandex-Wood Elf army, and I'm trying to stay away from the typical Skaven list. Specifically, I'm not running two Cannons (so he can field a Forest Dragon or Treeman that gets to do something), and I'm not taking the Stormbanner (so he can take some Warhawks). Looking for any unusual things that might be worth trying or spots in this list that could be friendlier, while still having some bite.

Why warpthrower over poisin?

Yeah, I usually run a Grey Seer; that's one of the things I'm doing to make the list a little tamer.

Why take the Warpfire Thrower over the Poison Wind Mortar, you mean?
Because it's better, that's why!
For +5pts, you get a flame template over a small template, S5 Flaming and D3 wounds over "wounds on a 5(4)+, and the greater accuracy of a larger template coupled with no scatter die.

Beyond that, though? There's nothing in the Wood Elf book with much in the way of armour, so the Mortar wouldn't do much for me.
