Hi, everybody, we have a 3000 point per player Apocalypse game coming up in November and I've been thinking about using a Tzeentch War Coven.

There's always putting that unit in a Land Raider but that's almost certainly going to get blown up Turn 1, and since we end up with basically an 8 foot x 18 foot table, I'm not sure that will get them far enough to shoot the psychic choir attack.

Should I give them all wings and/or Terminator armor for deepstriking? Or should I mount them on bikes? Or I could put them in a Dreadclaw too.

Dreadclaw is probably the cheapest option overall....so far I have a Slayer of Souls Daemon Lord in there, and the 3x3 Obliterator Cult of Destruction which also requires 1 unit of Mutilators (ugh), and a Doomblaster of Khorne, possibly a Skyshield Landing Pad and Manticore too.

In case you couldn't tell I'm keeping the model count to a minimum

What say you?

After having played the Tyranid high command, I have this to say. If you play an opponent who brings a bunch of D weapons just be prepared to take that unit off the table. I'm really frustrated by the fact that my thousand point unit just dies to an Eldar formation that shoots a D apocalyptic blast... ugh.

I know it's Apoc and you're suppose to accept that but if a fifth of your army dies turn one NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO then you're probably going to be dead quick.

Anyway, Bikes would probably be the best option. I would say put the EW skull relic on the lead guy to take D weapon hits but even his invuln won't save him anymore. Bikes are much more surviveable than any vehicle.

If you don't want to buy a bunch of bikers, the Dreadclaw would probably be best then. I'm not sure what power you get but the dreadclaw allows you to go anywhere on the battlefield which is a big deal if you ever go to St. Louis siegeworld events where they play on a basketball court...

Best of luck to you! I like the obliterator cults too!

Oh yeah, I would love to use my 9 Obliterators too. I figure a Herald of Tzeentch or 2 wouldn't hurt to make sure that S shot hits the target.

I do love Biker Psykers. But apparently flyers can come in Turn 1 in Apoc. so I'm very inclined to make the Dreadclaw now. I don't think I can get a Chaos Thunderhawk made and have it look good for quite a while, so that will have to wait til next year Plus I could use Ahriman in a Dreadclaw, which I just thought of, as I can't give him a bike or anything. At least if that power gets Denied, he could shoot 2 more Witchfires.

The Chaos psychic choir power is a 48" range Assault X power, where X = 1 to 3 sacrificed Sorcerers equals the number of small S/AP1 Vortex blasts. So gotta have probably at least 6 to 9 Chaos Sorcerers in there...definitely among the most expensive single shooting attacks in the game!

Hold them in Reserve. Every time. When used, burn all the guys you can.
