So first of all. This list is just a basic begining of an idea that MIGHT someday see the light of the battle board. It isnt very viable except as a gunline. Not even too sure it works for that either.



I am posting it here for civil discussion. It is based on Imperial Fist chapter tactics. Currently at 1850 so there is a bit of room to flesh out a 2k list.

The basic idea is to turtle behind the ADL and let the las cannon and quad gun make them come within 36 then heavy bolter to death. The drop pod squad is for large tank turn 1 kill

I think if ur taking sternguardnu want them to be using their special ammo, plus the razorbacks don't benefit from Bolter drill.

So with help from another local forum to me, this is this list at 2.0.

This list is becoming very rapidly a fun looking list. It will take me a bit to get all the heavy bolters and las cannon bits, but I am really liking the way its shaping up.

The 10 man sternguard squad combat squads 5 combi's in the pod, the other 5 stay back. The scout and LSS outflank to either score late or put a mm shot up someones woohoo. yes the 2 las targets a turn will be a bit tricky, but I plan on putting someone other then a dev on the quad gun so that potentially gives me 3 targets a turn.


The Sternguard become scoring and all but the 2 heavy bolters per squad use the special ammo. Or bolter shots depending on targets. Having 3 rerolling str 6 shots per squad is sorta nice to my thinking. It is also only a 1850 list. the extra 150 to go to 2k would be filling out the sternguard squad numbers

You should really reconsider taking heavy bolters on sternguard. It's a waste IMO. You lose access to their special ammo, which is better than a heavy bolter.

The special ammo is lost for the 2 heavy bolter guys yes. However, the 6 shots for the 2 guys at 36" is a worthwhile trade i believe

I think the Heavy Bolters on the sternguard are fine. You have 30 inch bolts to go with the 36 inch range, works out nicely. Take out the HB on the drop pod squad. If you are podding in to melta something, you are suiciding that squad. Don't waste the points. For almost the same amount of points you can drop 2 devastator squads with combi meltas, hitting on 2's. Should be enough to score First Blood.

If you are close enough to be using the other rounds, you are too close to the enemy.

That being said: for a TAC list, you need more anti-air and some kind of anti-psyker. for 255 points you can take a Grey Knights storm raven with mindstrike missiles, twin linked las and multilmelta and psybolt ammo hurricane bolters. Throw in Coteaz and some cheap henchmen and you cover anti air and anti-psyker, and can hurt daemon screamerstar lists. Coteaz also helps against drop pod lists which can hurt a gunline army.

The drop pod unit gets combat squaded, 5 in the pod the other 5 deployed off the bat. The 5 combi melta guys and pod get dropped to either take out the big ugly armor or to put the pod in a position where it HAS to be removed or you cant go there


I also admit I am not a tourney player so...I might do a few of the more "for fun" local ones, but.. who knows
