As I promised it is high time to start Norsgard previews! Each Thursday I will show something new. Late January 2014 game should already in stores! (yes, it means no crowd funding!)

First thing to show for is mighty Crimson Champion. Champs are veteran troopers in Scarlet Watch... wait... Scarlet Watch? Let's say that this is penal unit in Order of the Ram.

I game terms Crimson Champion will help commanding his fellows and he will be also very strong fighter.

Today something for orc fans... one of the best sculpts in Norsgard's range... do not worry we still have plenty of orcs waiting for release. As you can see this is not typical orc. In Norsgard orc are noble race... well, noble brutes as some of players call them

What is Norsgard? I need some context, please as I imagine a number of other folks would appreciate, too.

Good transition from concept to 3d sculpt.

The Empire State

There is a bit of fluff on their website. Not a lot but enough to get your feet wet.

The continent (main one?) is a cold place (there is also volcanoes to make a ice and fire world), Orcs are more noble than what we are use to, they sort of serve as protectors from, what I believe is an invasion from the north? It has been a while since I read the exact specifics.

There was once planned not sure if it true for your typical savage Orcs.

I don't know much about the world, if it is just one continent or if there are other and if the whole world is frigid.

I own just about their entire line now, I posted some photos on dakka some time ago when I first got my hands on them.

Very clean, crisp and beautiful models. Quality is up there with any top notch company IMO.

As for rules, I can't be of a lot of help either, only played one game and the rules are being tuned up.

@Piston Honda - thank you very much for introduction

I think that it is high time for few words from me. Norsgard is my creation... well, at least I am the one who is showing the way. I have fantastic possibility to work with one of the best concept artists and sculptor... This gives the opportunity to move away from typical fantasy setting...

World of Norsgard is called Isbran. Story is inspired by nordic myths, which have reflection even in name of some units. It is not dark fantasy. For sure there is dark menace... but this is not so obvious. There will be a place for heros there... but not expect that all of them will be crystal clear.

Take orcs f- Order of the Ram -or instance. Indeed, they protectors of Isbran, but they made some dark deeds in the past.. Current army The Scarlet Watch is darker part of the Order of the Ram. Most of their warrios fallen into disgrace....

Story will evolve around the orcs. The Scarlet Watch is fighting against dark barbarians and main army is fighting against undeads. However, do not expect to see ghouls, zombies etc. Undeads will be in much better condition. Using D&D terms Undeads will be lawful - evil. Now I can say that they will be fighters without souls... In rulebook (free pdf) you will find detailed information about The Scarlet Watch and The Howling Horde (dark barbarians from Mork Tribe). Their will be also short introduction to Isbran.

Now the most important part - THE RULES

It is skirmish game. Some of you already played 1st version. Game mechanic will not have drastic changes compared to first version. I decided to remove combat cards, but you will still have possibility to choose different combat tactics.

Game will need around 10 miniatures per side and there will be upper limit of miniatures for each army.

I also added wound tables to the game. It should make game more interesting and funny.

One of the coolest rules will be possibility to throw your sword... so, each miniature will have a shooting weapon.

Campaign rules are also ready and I belive that it will give players a lot fun. There will be big wound table for fighters taken out of action, but some wounds will be specific to each army.

Game will be relased on January/February next year. Indeed, it will mean no crowdfunding. We are on the market over a year and I decided that it will be better solution. I want to see game in stores. Some tournaments going on... I am playing L5R CCG and I love their idea of giving players some decision. I want to give you the same possibility. All in all it is the game for you.

Initially there will two armies only - Order of the Ram and Mork Tribe. However, there are already some miniatures sculpted to other armies and I hope that next armies will quickly join the battles.

Most important thing. There will be metal miniatures only. We currently had problems with casting minis in resin fast enough. I can not imagine situation when something will be out of stock due to long casting process. Oracle of Storms and Innri Guard miniatures were already casted in metal. So, you can be sure that quality will be thery good. Also miniatures are at least 34mm tall and big part of them is digitally sculpted. It means that assembling them will be really easy.

Sorry, for my english and I hope that I answered on all question.

That Orc is awesome. Not traditional orcy, but a crazy good necromancer/warlock.

Sounds interesting!

I like the look of the miniatures, and I'm a big fan of 'skirmish scale' games too...

Skirmish is all I play anymore except Napoleonics and Hail Caesar.

It's a bit of a pipe dream, but I hope this game (or some other game) will introduce a Desert theme faction with Persian/Arabic aesthetics. There doesn't seem to be a lot of that out there to scratch that itch outside of Hell Dorado that I am aware of.

Today something special! One of my favourite units. It was a lot of fun during design process and you can belive that miniature will look outstanding!

As you can see this orc is wearing heavy armor and does not go in line with typical Scarlet Watch brutes... Well, he has to be better armored than his companions. If one of them will lose his mind than Nifl Guard will have to slay him. So, better wear thick armor for such cases.

By the way origins of the unit's name you can find in myths... check Niflheim.

Thank you guys for comments!

Now as I promised it is time to show something new for Mork Tribe. Tribal Warriors are not the best fighters, but they are fierce enough to stand against any opponent. Somebody will die, but they never care who... You will find this miniature in starter for barbarians.

Today something really cool! This is one of my favourite miniatures to the date - Crimson Champion

This warrior looks like a berserker. However, Crimson Champions are veterans of countless confrontations . They can help their in coordinating army movement. So, as long as at least one them is in the army you will have better chances to take the initiative and play the game on your terms rather on yours oponent's terms.

Great model - and I have to agree with you , I also think it is one of the best miniatures in your range.
When I've been dewaxing 3d print for you I simply couldn't wait to see how it has turned out.
But you bloody bastard - you scared me a tad. When I finished dewaxing I noticed the broken sword. I was afraid I might have damaged the print - but a quick peek at the render calmed me .

I like what I see. But I think I will decide when I see the cast. It might be too "heavy" with the clothes and fur and the big shoulder armour. But good vibes thus far.

I think I'm on the opposite end here. I like what I see too, but I hope it is a bit "heavy."
Maybe I just like those thicker figures since there's less little spots for me to ruin it with paint.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

This time another concept art for The Scarlet Watch. Scout will be interesting addition for this army. First of all scout is the only one warrior with normal range weapons (yeah, everyone can throw his sword... once). He will have also some other dirty tricks... after all he is not a true templar.

To make things more interesting I can say that this concept art ended on Benoit Cosse sculpting desk... So, if you know his sculpts already you can expect really awesome miniature in near future. This will be first release after starters.

Here we go... Another Crimson Champion. This one is mure dynamic. Also there is good news about parts. This one will cime with additional weapons and what is more important all hands with weapons will fit to first of Crimson Champion. So, it will give you a lot of possibilities to arm him.

Loving this! Big Orc fan in all games and media. The Dark Guard in particular is fantastic.
I prefer Vei-Banshee's concept head though.

Thank you very much for positive feedback. Next Vei-Banshee will have a head in mask and pose will be similiar to concept art.

Today we return to the original roots of Norsgard. Focusing on The Scarlet Watch we did not forget about the main core of the army - The Order of the Ram. Second sculpt of one of the first models, the Ysil Guard, is ready now... and awaits the upcoming Undead forces.

During the next week's preview, we will reveal one of the most important rules in any game - wound types!
