Hey Dakka,

I'm in the process of building an Astral Claws army, and I wondered if you guys could provide some tips on a fluffy list I could aspire to? Bearing in mind they're big on using overwhelming force/firepower, and are well equipt 'cause they don't pay taxes

Thanks in advance!

You're going to want to fill up your heavy support slots utterly. As old Huron said, big guns never tire.

Far as I read from the Badab war they're very heavy into the use of artillery and jump/assault squads.

Consider allying in some cheap guard conscripts, Leman Russ tanks, and Basilisks. As far as I read from the fluff on the PDF forces that worked with the Astral Claws.

You could just play the Astral claws list from forgeworld.

I plan to include some Tyrant's legion allies for sure, some meatshie...err, I mean, fire support...

I knew there were character rules, but I wasnt aware there was a full blown list?

Yeah bro... its SWEET!!
I play Astral Claws too.
The list is in Badab Campaign volume one.
Its over the top....Marines can be in Legion- thats right 20 boys in one squad!!!
Plus, you can take Leman Russ within the list!!
Total WIN!!

As above check out the badab war vol1. The list itself though is pretty lacking. Most of the units in it are inferior to their codex counterparts and now that allies are around its big hook is no longer much of a hook.

I dunno, the whole ability to sacrifice guardsmen to get better cover saves can't really be done with allies.

Not to mention it's easier to run blob marines, with 1 special per 5 Marines in a squad, not to mention some interesting units.

Plus forgeworld.

Wow, I took a look at the Tyrant's Legion list and its really interesting.

They also suggest trading out Space Marines for Chaos Space Marines in the list as part of a campaign or something, but fall short of specifically allowing it or allowing the Legion to ally with CSM.

Really cool to see such a force get proper rules though

It mostly means in look, as well as specific missions.
