i've been a collector of marines for a while and the collection is still growing. however i used to love gundam wing and armored core on the ps2, so naturally i like the tau battlesuites. i was looking through my model cabinet today and got the idea to add a few troop choices etc to what i had and make a 750 point army.

It includes a range of models (representing what i own) however please suggest any changes. i like painting ochre so i'd happily add to my collection

the set-up is as follows:

commander goes with marker-drones (can use target-lock to fire his missiles at someone else).

the skyray deals with aircraft/supplies fire support etc. (and supplies more marker-light).

the troop choices (kroot) have not been bought yet. i chose them over fire warriors because of their infiltrate/outflank. but am willing to be convinced by fire warriors...

the riptide can shoot hvy infantry/smash high av targets. and the solo crisis suit will be a DS threat.

my worry is whether i have enough shooting...what are peoples opinions?

Very clean list, with a bit of everything needed.

Kroot are a bit better in terms of flexibility which is why i like them.

If possible you should try to find 12 points to give your two kroot units sniper rounds. its a great backup for big scary MCs.

But it isnt completely necessary

I could drop the disruption pod on the skyray and buy sniper rounds for the kroot.

Overall its good to know my instincts werent completely out with what might work.

Wouldn't it be better to have 2 marker drones with the commander and 2 in the other squad instead of 4 in a drone squad? That should be strictly better at 4 points cheaper.

i thought the minimum unit size for drones is 4. but if i can take a unit of 2 then that would indeed be better

Unfortunately the min amount for drones squad is 4. But the advice is sound if you up the points a little, the drones the commander has access to are cheaper.

Sniper rounds are great and I would recommend trying to find some points for them but not convinced on dropping the Dpod on the Skyray.

The list looks very nice btw, I can't really see a place to get the points for the sniper rounds.

cool, thanks for the feedback. i might have to 'counts as' a few guardsmen for the kroot to test them. although i do like the idea of a really mobile, shooty army
