Hi,
Has anyone used either mantics forge fathers or enforcers as space marine alternatives? Tempted by the forge fathers!

Forge fathers:

Enforcers:

Thanks

Hum, I can tell you Forge Fathers are much shorter than the Space Marine models. I wouldn't have a problem with it, but expect TLOS problems with some players.

I use a ton of the Enforcers as IG stormtroopers (as well as the corporation marines as vets) and they are awesome-looking models. They're slightly taller but much thinner than marines, but it shouldn't be an issue with all but the most picky of players. It's worth noting that can be a pain to put together, especially if you forget to make a note of which arm goes with which, but are easily worth it, being amazingly crisp and well-detailed, not to mention entirely awesome.

Hope that helps.

Using them as IG is a great way to get an army together fairly cheap, especially if you use the army sets and online discounters for more savings (Total Wargamer have a bad press for GW stuff, but everything Mantic I've ordered from them has arrived in good time). That way, you also get an army for Warpath, Mantic's free rules, so if you ever fancy a change of pace from 40k, you already have the models (I'd seriously recommend giving it a shot, all the rules are free and it's a really fun, fast paced and interactive game).

The only issue is that they are true-scale as opposed to GW heroic scale, so look REALLY thin next to marines and orks and the like, but I actually like that, makes them seem even more the 'common man in a world of monsters'. It's really a matter of preference, some love the models, some hate them, but on the whole, most people should be happy to play them.
