Hello everyone,

It's a bit of time that I'm lurking on these forums and I decided to join you at last. It will be a good opportunity to practice my rusted english, so I hope I won't be too difficult to understand.

My name is Dave and I live in Belgium, in the center of Europa. It's quite a small country but still good to play wargames and painting models for the fun. I began the Hobby with GW in 1990, like many of us (talking about beginning with GW, not about the date ^^), but after 20 years there are a lot of others games and awesome model makers on the market - while I'm still taking some things from GW, I'm not against buying from others if their quality and their ideas suit me.

I like practicing the Hobby in the whole - the "rules" part, the "game" part, the "modeling" part, the "tell a story" part, and so on. I played tournaments in the past, but with time I tend to leave a bit the competitive games. It's not I'm not able to, just that I'd rather have the other one to play with me rather than playing against him. Real life is already a bitch enough so that I don't need to be one in my free time as well.

About what I can do with models, you can have an idea with this picture;

Those are some characters from my Renegade Guard army. I like to convert models with whatever I find, mostly plastic kits from GW but also parts from other editors. With time, I also have quite a big collection from many horizons, so I still have very old models not on the market anymore. It's better to give them a new life with some colors, bitz and sculpting, isn't it?

By the way, I'm not a great painter. I just like spending some time with models, giving them a story and a reason to be there. I do like reading (and using...) the rules, but that's not my ending purpose in the game; so I don't really care about making things that are just "dirty cheesy" to own my opponent. I also like to make new rules for special units, when "count as" magic doesn't feel enough to me. When I do, I'm not about giving plenty of special rules that are completely overpowered; I'm more in the line of Jervis Johnson point of view "keep it plain simple".

That's all I can think talking about myself. I hope my english wasn't too bad for you. Have a nice day!
