I'm used to doing a Drop pod list, but I'm also used to 2000+ points so I thought I'd try something different (no drop pods) this time around.

Typical opponents are Tau (no air, no riptides), Necron (1-2 scythes, sometimes a Monolith) and Marines (no air, light armor).
Typical game is Purge the Alien with pre-set terrain.

I was thinking the Scouts would camp out with the TFC in some ruins with Line of Sight to as much of the table as possible. Captain would go with the Sternguard and along with the two tac squads would roll forward concentrating (if possible) on one major target at a time while the Dreadnoughts would walk with (beside or even in front of?) the Rhinos and provide cover fire.

The vindicators I'm new with but I would hope to get them in cover and just throw blast templates out at any available target.

Any suggestions for changes to the list and/or strategies welcomed, thanks.

You don't really benefit from IF CT as most of your bolter wielders will be using special ammo.

He's alright, but if you want him to win challenges I'd look at giving him a storm shield or even the shield eternal.

Take a drop pod with these Dreads, seriously. Hurricane Bolters are pretty pointless for the CT as they're already TL, and I wouldn't take them anyway over the fist + melta/heavy flamer.

Sternguard (9 men, 2 Heavy Flamers, Rhino)

I'd consider their addition very carefully since they don't make much use of your CT.

Take specials in the Tac squads, and combi-weapons on the Sergeants, preferably plasma or flamers. Scouts are a bit meh.

Vindicators are fluffy but honestly I'd consider taking either Centurion Devastators or just Devastators instead to make better use of the CT.
