Hi Dakka,

Say, for example, my Daemon Prince has wiped out all opposition in the first round of combat that he has charged into.

Can he make a Sweeping Advance move? (Technically, no Morale check failed?)

If yes, just D6+In worth of inches? (Flying Monstrous Creature? Well, technically Jump Monstrous Creature at that point.)

I've recently been perhaps over-kitting my princes to the point where they massacre anything I throw them against in one turn and end up getting focus-fired to death afterwards in my opponent's turn, so I'm trying to figure out if I'm missing any rules here.

Thanks!

If everything he was in combat with is dead, what is he going to sweep?

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Finish him!

Then roll a d6 and consolidate.

Jokes aside, I would advise you to take a closer look at the sweeping advance rules. It is not movement but a simple check to see if the model whom won the combat gets to 'Instant Gib' the remaining survivors. If the sweeping advance check is successful, the rest of the surviving enemies are easily hunted down and dispatched as they cower from the might of your assault . Should you fail the sweeping advance, the enemies break and run like sensible cowards should upon facing a towering monstrosity of a creature that just ate half your squad.

Regardless of the outcome, the winner of the combat moves as per the rules for consolidating.

8th made it so I can no longer sway Tau onto the side of Chaos, but they will eventually turn aside from their idea of the Greater Good to embrace the Greatest of pleasures.

Sweeping advance hasn't been movement since 3.5(or whatever you'd like to call that update to 3rd ed).

It's not the size of the blade, it's how you use it.

Yes, sensei.

Thanks guys.
It seems I've got to find safer combats for my DP after all.
Or maybe reduce its points, dunno.
