Dissuade me from doing this, because it seems so fun to me. I'm banking on getting riftbringer on any of the heralds, placing a portalglyph somewhere and possibly a good warp storm result, I don't want to spend points on bloodletters when theres' so many ways to possibly get them for free. I'm going to assault with the Blood Thrones / Hounds and later of course with the Soul Grinders. I like Exalted Rewards because there's a chance of free Axe of Khorne included. The Bloodletters are just the minimum troops and with massive luck their unit leaders get the good lance weapon.
4 Heralds on Blood Thrones with Exalted Rewards, Exalted, Greater and two lesser loci (because I don't think I need 4 good loci but it'd be a shame to not use all the special rules, and who knows maybe the anti-psyker stuff comes in handy). 705 points. Yes, 4 Blood Thrones instead of something like two decked Bloodthirsters + an extra bloodletter unit. It's nice how the thrones can heal themselves and have an invulnerable save. Less nice how they are open-topped AV12 vehicles.
2x 10 Bloodletters with Bloodreaper / Greater Reward, Instrument of Chaos = 2x 135
Instruments or Icons? Khorne's Wrath seems like a pretty good result, so when it happens I want the most out of it. Then again I might want to DS these just so they don't get shot up.
20 Flesh Hounds = 320
Well obviously I want to chance a 3+ invulnerable save for them. Also we don't like battle cannons.
3 Soul Grinders with Warp Gaze, Warp Sword, Khorne = 3x 185
S10 AP 1 weapon too good to pass up, it's like we got the old railheads. This is my anti-everything column. Warpswords are awful, 25pts for an extra attack with a re-roll for an unit that probably isn't getting into close combat, but hey, it's with furious charge and possibly with hatred or rage. These are the units I trust however so it's not like I'm going to want them weaker just so I can have some more bloodletters. I don't want the ordnance weapon (or a skull cannon for that matter) because it's not going to kill tanks and transports which are a big problem for non-FMC daemons in my opinion. Anyway the Flesh Hounds are capable enough of killing infantry and so are the bloodthrones (well in theory at least).
1850 pts, that is 40T4 wounds on the hounds, 20 T3 on the letters and 12 av 12 hull points, 12 av 13 hullpoints, all with the invulnerable save.
