I saw these and my first thought was, "Those would be perfect to represent noise marines!" That big cannon things seem just like a huge sonic projector!

And after reading the fluff underneath the picture it certainly seems like they may have been designed to be the precursor of noise marines.

They are Noise Marines, or at least on the path to becoming them.

As the Emperors Children fell to Chaos, some of them weaponised sound generators as a means of killing and stimulation, the story can be read in the HH novel Fulgrim, and subsequently in Angel Exterminatus.

We find comfort among those who agree with us - growth among those who don't. - Frank Howard Clark

The correct statement of individual rights is that everyone has the right to an opinion, but crucially, that opinion can be roundly ignored and even made fun of, particularly if it is demonstrably nonsense!” Professor Brian Cox

They're pre-Heresy Noise Marines essentially. They've been shown to be their precursors in the Horus Heresy books. That's like saying "These Forgeworld Dreadnoughts would make great Dreadnoughts!"

I think they are great models, superior to the upgrade packs that GW sells that you need to buy a box of normal chaos marines to build. However, if you want Blastmasters (and who doesn't?), you have to either mod the sonic weapon to be bigger, use the GW one, or make one from scratch. Also the Doom Siren you have to do the same. I'd recommend the FW set with a purchase of the GW upgrade pack (that includes a Blastmaster and arms, Power sword and bolt pistol, a Doom Siren, and a Sonic Blaster and arms). I think that's what I will do for my next squad.

I'd think that their guns are closer to Blaster Masters than Sonic Blasters.

Though I do agree that the thread is the same as "Marine armours would make great tacticals!".

As above, they are pre-heresy Emperors Children, present while Slaanesh was still wrapping the legion up in his tender...

...Moving on, yes. They do look good.

I really miss the big ol' guitar guns Noisemarines used to have, glad I've got a bunch.

These underslung tube things they do now just leave me cold.

Indeed! for nothing is more suited to the task of being a dreadnought than a dreadnought!!!
