Just wondered if there were any massive differences between the two models except the turret?

It's actually the exact same model. Not sure about the new Skyray/Hammerhead kit, but I believe the old one allowed you to build any of our 3 tanks.

The Skyray/hammerhead is just the skyray box with new art (the old skyray box let you build either a skyray or a hammerhead - and had the turrets for both).

The old hammerhead was just a hammerhead.

The main differences are the chin "turret", the main turret and the drone slots on the forward wings. All of these bits ARE modular though.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

In other words: The hull sprues are identical, there is an extra Hammerhead sprue with gun turret, small sensor nose turret and SMS drones and there is a sprue for Skyray turret.

If you magnetize the gun on the chin turret and build all three main turret parts, you can use the new hammerhead/skyray for any of the vehicles. Also, one skyray/hammerhead box is just one part (nose turret sensor replacement) short of the spares to turn a devilfish kit into a second tank.

I collect:
Guard - 2k of mostly infantry
DA - 2k of deathwing, 2k of other bits (no vehicles)
Sisters - mostly converted/proxy because I'm waiting for therange to go plastic.
Tau - 2k with no riptides because I can.
