I just started unremembered empire and a thought came to mind almost immediately...

Spoiler:

If the Furious Abyss her two sister ships were available at the start of the heresy, and these ships take a significant period of time to build, and no one knew of them...

I thought the mechanicus was swayed by Horus? These ships had to be constructed way before Davin. Any thoughts?

Easy, they were commissioned in secret for unrelated reasons to what they were eventually used for. The Mechanicus was never a totally united faction, they'd been keeping secrets from each other since they originally were founded.

Self-proclaimed evil Cat-person. Dues Ex Felines

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.

But for every one else of significance not to know? So Horus, Empy, Malcador, every other primarch. I can't believe the super generals weren't aware of things. They had to have some overlap, or something, especially the ones that are thought of as intelligent more so.

Or maybe mechanicus just don't gossip :/

Or perhaps Lorgar was so marginalized after Monarchia no one even gave a to look after

The Abyss and sisters were Mechanicum vessels originally. And the Mechanicum is very very close mouthed. After the heresy began Horus/Logar just got lucky that the ArchMagos that started them went heritic.

Spoiler:

In betrayer Lorgar says to Magnus "I built three of them". I really take this as Lorgar commissioned them.

Lorgar was headed towards heresy FAR before Horus started gak. He's hated the Ultramarines since Monarchia.

Lorgar had been planning the heresy for 40 years. Horus might have been the offical commander, but Lorgar is very much the power behind the throne so to speak

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two
