Came across this in a game tonight,

Trying to determine if my bikes would get a jink save against shooting while locked in combat with a non-walker vehicle.

So the whole scenario,

Movement phase - a unit of bikes moves 12".

Shooting phase - they shoot a meltagun into a vehicle.

Assault phase - they assault the same vehicle

Vehicle miraculously survives all of that only getting stunned and the bike is now locked in combat.

Opponents turn

A seperate unit fires at the bikes locked in combat with the vehicle, do they get a jink save?

To my understanding, if it's a non walker vehicle, the bikes are not "locked in combat" and have moved in the movement phase before, so they would still get their jink.

If they were locked in combat your opponent wouldn't be able to shoot at the bike unit anyway

Blasts can still scatter onto them, in which case they would get a jink save, though?

Thanks

@Skye26

You are correct, just finished reading the vehicles and assaults portion.

I assumed they were locked since they can hit the vehicle in the opponents turn if no one has moved. But it clearly emphasizes that they are not locked.

The Jink USR doesn't say anything about going away if the unit is locked in combat, so you have it no matter what. The only relevant limit is that you can't use a cover save against wounds inflicted in combat.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

They will get their cover save if they fulfill the conditions.

Units are never locked in combat with a non walker vehicle. (Barring specific exception if any).
