I was thinking of a decent way to portray a sniper chapter using Codex: Space Marines, and it struck me that Lascannons are pretty good sniper weapons. I will probably model them as actual sniper rifles (not scout ones, much bigger) so it's basically a counts-as situation. So I put 25 of them in an 1850 list.

General tactics? Move forward slowly, annihilate priority targets. Icarus on the Bastion will be manned by the Master of the Forge (I'm not expecting much if any enemy fliers, not in my group) and will be accompanied by a Tactical squad.

If this isn't Imperial Fist tactics I will be so disappoint.

Don't worry, it is! It was between this and Ultramarines, simply because of the two doctrines the Ultramarines CT that could benefit this army. But, I went with IF because of the Tank killing abilities.

Man, that is a ton of Lascannons. So many Devatator Kits and extra bits.

And i though my guard army had a lot of lascannons

sadly, it wont do much vs hordes or anything thats not mech heavy

I think it'll do fairly well against mc heavy lists as well. Against hordes all I have are the boaters, but I thankfully get rerolls to hit with those.

I can think of a number of builds this would excel against:
Paladins (ID!)
Termie-heavy lists (lots of points lost before they're effective)
DE Raider-spam (strand the assaulters)
Tzeentch's Flying Circus (ground the Princes, then ID them)

Before the new SM codex I fielded in 1500 pts 15 lascannons. I tended to throw a lot of 1's and 2's when rolling to hit, but if I started and dice were with me, they were quite effective.
