So guys whats the Verdict with the Tie Advanced, I havnt been able to play with it yet due to models not being available
but what ive seen and heard is that they suck, just more expensive ties with missle options (I think) haha.
So i come to you dakka tell me how you run Tie Adanved (if you do) or how you would should you only take the unique pilots or do the regular ones have some merit.

I generally run an advanced with Darth in it. It tends to work well, but it does become expensive quickly.

Sadly, they haven't yet made the TIE Advanced. Just that miserable prototype. Once they do, I will gleefully soup up some Avengers.

I think one of my friends list was a tie spam with vader leading it with swarm tactics and the other ties having swarm tactics spreading it around so everyone was PS 9. (Im assuming darth is 9)

I like to run Vader + Swarm Tactics + Some sort of missile (I think I ran proton torpedoes in my last game) and have him lead some Basic TIE Fighters (with the occasional named pilot).
It's a lot of fun to play and quite fitting to A New Hope.

Honestly, if your going to buy one you can save some space by throwing away all the cards and base inserts that don't have Darth Vader written on them. And even then I haven't fielded or faced him often. I do like the model though.

Any more use out of them with Wave 3? They don't have the payload of Bombers but I'm wondering if there are any new synergies that make sense with an Advanced over a Bomber?

Well, the advantage of the advanced is that it can actually fight once it has used it's missiles- however, the bomber can take two missiles for the same cost. They both run well with the cheaper bomber character for a brutal "sniper" list, with the Advances only having one shot to kill, but the bombers not being able to fight if the alpha strike fails.
But really, the Advanced, A-wing and bomber all kinda suffer for being vessels which are really under-gunned after the initial shot. Vader gets a pass because he can actually be a good support model and with his double-action ability can reliably put out a bit of damage every round.

I have used Vader to a lot of success, I've tried the Bomber but so far I can't get a lot of production out of it. I might try taking the bomber around the outside and flanking or something. I love the model so I'm determined to find a way to use it well.

vader is pricey at 29pts but his double actions make him very fun to play.
2 yrs ago the top squad to win at worlds used...
vader
howlruner
4x academy pilot
cant remember what his upgrades were, think they were swarm on howlrunner + vader
that was back b4 intercepters, a-wings and large base ships tho.
vader is still playable now. i like to put engine upgrade on him. its expensive but he is very hard to get shots on when he can move last, boost and barrel roll.
sadly the regular tie-advanced pilots are rather overcosted to justify playing imo, although Maarek is intersting, especially with push the limit as he plays a little like vader - although he struggles to shed stress like the tie-intercepters whihc have way more green arrows on their movement dial.
what lots of people overlook about the tie-advanced is that it has target lock - which even on a 2 attack dice ship can dish out pretty decent dmg over the course of a game, esp at close range.

The Tie Advanced have sadly, been lackluster since Wave 1 and they have only gotten worse. Vader is okay, but that's because he can do 2 actions with PS 9 on an otherwise unremarkable chasis. I wish they would overhaul this Tie and give it a point drop or better offense with a point bump but that's probably not going to happen. What would really make my day is if they made Tie Avengers and put Steele and Vader in those (or Tie Defenders). Giving Steele a better ship or a different ability is also needed because as is, it just isn't an effective ability. It only comes into play after shields are gone and works best with high numbers of dice which not only delays it until mid-late game and with 2 attack dice, it's very rare to crit and go through defense. It has interesting applications, but it largely not feasible.

Yea i play tested them for the first time with my buddy i ran 2 Vader and Steele with howl and mauler mithel i gave them both missles i think assault missles and homing. I can't really complain about their performance because i think it was just my stupidity and manuvering that lost me the game. (My Friends the one who got me into xwing so hes pretty good) He ran a Steller list though, Wedge, (Named Bwing that gets reroll or focus when stressed or sumtin) and a Hwk 290 that gives the extra attack, Wedge was devastating and i think the only damage i did was take off 2 shields.
