So I didn't notice this until now. The Firestorm Redoubt and the others come with rules for using them in 'normal' 40k in the box. So when an event says fortifications are legal, I can use one of these for my fortifications slot?

I saw one of these at the GTGT South-West last month, and I just figured it was a stand in for something else...

Yes, different tournaments will have different rules on how to place them, nomally since it is preset they will let you shift or replace terrain that is on the board as long as the movement is agreed by both palyers.

Yes they can easily be that big.

Yeah, they've joined the BRB fortifications and are tournament legal.
